Combining a Room Only into a MYW Package?

I'm getting ready to call Disney & ask to see if I can turn the Room Only reservation for the first day of our vacation into the rest if our MYW package (to include another park day & dining).

Does anyone know if this is possible?

I originally planned on arriving on a Friday but decided I wanted to do EMH RopeDrop & add a room only to the beginning of our package. Now that I've thought about it a little more I wanted blend that room only into the package so I don't have to recheck-in the next morning.

Thanks!

It is possible, but it will depend on availability.

What will happen is your room only reservation will be canceled and your package will be modified.

I can confirm this. Did it just last week. ADRs carry over to the new reservation too.

Correct.

Dining reservations are actually separate from your room reservations. The dining will reference back to your room, but if you were to outright cancel your room reservation, your dining reservations would remain.

RT06, did they keep you in the same room the whole vacation or move you to another room for the other reservation?

This trip is for a future date, so I don't know. Your situation seems overly complicated. I was under the impression you can make any adjustments up to 45 days without penalty. Which I've done a couple of times already.

Just got off the phone with Disney & they cancelled my room only and add a day to my package. Since my arrival date is so close I had to pay the full difference & they will credit me back for the room only in 7-10 days. She very kindly did not charge me for the switch.

The one ominous thing the very sweet rep said to me was she wasn't sure "how" they would issue my credit since I split paid with gift cards & a debit card. I seriously hope it is credited to my debit card, I don't have any of the gift cards remaining. (I tossed them after I paid, without thinking... Derp)

We have done this several times. We have APs and did general public room only reservations and made other reservations with our APs (depending on what resort we wanted to stay at and availability as @Master Yoda said). We just ask at check in to let them know. We have done this for just a one night stay (when we checked in a day earlier then we had originally planned) and for stays spilt 4 nights/ 3 nights. We have never had to move rooms at any deluxe resort (even when booking multiple views ex. water view vs standard view at YC, Woods view BB vs standard view at WL). Good luck

All payments go back to the original form of payment. So some of it will be crediting to the now-non-existant gift card. You'll want to look somewhere in the terms and conditions on www.disneygiftcard.com to see who you should contact about the card and its balance.

As a side note, the reason you weren't charged a fee for changing the reservations is that you technically cancelled the room only outside of its short cancellation deadline (5 days, I think), and even though you're inside 45 days for the package you were making a change that increased its overall pricetag, so the change fee is waived in that instance.
