It's Columbus Day Weekend, even though Leif Erickson arrived in North America 500 years before him and set up a nice family settlement and grew grapes in Canada. Regardless of which European got here first, the crowds have certainly arrived at Disneyland! This is always a very, very busy weekend, and this year is no different. It's interesting to see how the crowds have chosen which rides to go on.

Sunny, crisp and 76 degrees late this afternoon. Just look at these wait times here at 5:00pm on Sunday evening...

Splash Mountain, Grizzly River Run, Submarines, Star Tours - 25 Minutes
Autopia, Jungle Cruise, Little Mermaid, Chase A Baby! - 30 Minutes
Millennium Falcon: Target Run, Monsters Inc., Pirates of the Caribbean, Buzz Lightyear - 45 Minutes
Goofy's Sky School, Luigi's Honkin' Haul-O-Ween, Mater's Junkyard JamBOOree - 50 Minutes
Indiana Jones Adventure, Midway Mania, Thunder Mountain - 60 Minutes
Haunted Mansion Holiday, Hyperspace Mountain, Matterhorn - 90 Minutes
Guardians of the Galaxy Monsters After Dark! - 130 Minutes
Radiator Springs Racers - 150 Minutes

So obviously big crowds still go to Disneyland. They just didn't show up this past summer.

I wouldn't wait 90 seconds let alone 90 minutes for HMH. Jack and co need to get their own place and leave my Mansion alone.

Actually it's Thanksgiving Day Weekend, you stupid Hoser!!!

Or I should say Monday is Thanksgiving Day in Canada. (The fall harvest ends earlier closer to the poles.)

And that was not a Polish joke!

All I know was Saturday was an absolute nightmare and made me long for those magical days this summer when you could almost have the parks to yourself.

I had a Flex reservation and I cancelled as soon as I realized it was Utah week. I wonder if next Sunday will be any better?

Is it really already Thanksgiving up in Canada? I thought their Thanksgiving was in late October. Who knew?

Columbus Day weekend is always such a hugely busy weekend for Disneyland, and yet it always catches people off guard every single year. It's like they think they are the only ones who have a 3 day weekend. I avoid Disneyland like the plague this time of year and instead hit the mall sales for home goods and kitchen stuff I need for the holidays.

It's another very busy day at Disneyland and DCA today, with big wait times! The rest of the week also will be busier than usual, as some schools get the whole week off now.

And seriously, Leif Erickson got here 500 years before Columbus! But the Italians in New York, Philadelphia and Boston in the early 1900's had a much better marketing campaign than the Scandinavians did and so the Italians got the holiday, the parades, the mall sales, etc. :banghead:

My weekend

Saturday was the Carlsbad Premium Outlets.

Yesterday was Seaworld. Very busy but not insane.

Typing this from the Outlets of San Clemente.

I have never once considered going to SeaWorld. I don't know anyone who has ever expressed interest in SeaWorld.

How are they still in business? Or even, how are they busy?

SeaWorld attendance was up over 8% in 2018.

How are they doing it? Well selling Fun Cards/Annual Passes, more seasonal events, and adding rides. A new Roller Coaster in 2018, 2019 and a very nice B&M Dive Coaster in 2020.

They are pushing Animal Rescue Programs and all the good they do, and have been doing for over 50 years.

This is good to see. A lot of the hits SeaWorld took during its decline weren't totally fair, IMO.

But, an 8% increase isn't exactly cause for uncorking the champagne bottles, just yet. They're still miles away from where they were 10 years ago.

We used the All Day Dining Plan on Sunday (Got one to split), a Meal every hour, 3 items - Entrée, side (dessert is counted as a side) and a 21 ounce drink. Liked the Calypso Smoke House (Onion Bacon Brisket Sandwich was awesome) and Shipwreck Reef Café (Ribs have a small surcharge - Lisa got the Ginger Soy Salmon and was quite happy).

We have had Platinum Passes since they came out, pay just over $10 a month each, as we signed up when they offered a guaranteed no raising of price deal if you kept your membership going. Since we do visit other parks, an amazing deal, especially since we get preferred parking and seating, and 20% discount on most things, plus free guests tickets each year.
