Columbus Day - less busy week before or week of?

We are looking at going either the week of Oct 7 or the week of Oct 14. Columbus Day is October 14. We are trying to pick the week with fewer crowds, any advice?

Thanks!

October will be nice. Avoiding a holiday, no matter what it is, will be nicer. It is F&W Festival, so WS is much busier as the day goes on and is slammed Friday - Sunday.

We are probably going the week of Columbus Day because our son will be off that week for fall break. If you are hoping to get a deal, they historically offer free dining up until 4 days before Columbus Day. I've thought about taking a chance with it, and pulling him out of school a couple of days before the break, but if there is no deal, then we are there over that whole busy weekend. All the locals will have a 3 day, so the parks will be busy. I also know historically Magic Kingdom will have a MNSSHP Columbus Day night. That will keep most of the locals away from that park Monday as it will close to everyone without a ticket at 7. I hope I helped you some. I think we are going to try to avoid the weekend before Columbus Day,and like BigRedDad said, WS at Epcot will be busy every Friday - Sunday while F&W is going on.
