College Program/Internship during my last semester

Hey all, i had a quick question about the College Program details, as well as the Professional internships Disney offers.
::
I am an alumni to the College program, [Fall of '05] and i really enjoyed it.
i used the program to get my foot in the door with the Disney corporation.
I learned of their Professional Internships while i was down there, and i put it in the back of my mind for when i became a Junior/Senior in College.
After this semester [Fall '06] i will be starting my 5th semester [considered a Junior basically] and can start thinking about internships and the collegeprogram again.
i was talking with one of my class mates, and she is graduating this Spring. she applied for the Collegeprogram again [she too was their while i was] this semester, and will be returning starting Summer '07 after she graduates this coming Spring.
I was thinking i could do the same thing after i am done with my studies, figured it would be an excellent way to ensure 40+hrs a week, and a way to feed my need for WDW again [i miss it a lot !_!]
I am a Bachelor of Fine Arts-Drawing, and am interested in perhaps a Graphics Design, or an Imagineer Internship.
What would all of you recommend to me as a plan of action?
::
Sorry for the long post, but i just thought about this a little while ago, and decided i should take action on it, who knows where it might lead.
But how do i "take action"?
Thank you for your replies ahead of time.
Take Care! ^_^

I'm not sure I can answer your questions, but you're definitely not alone in this situation. I'm a Bachelor of Fine Arts-Sculpture, and I'm also interested in eventually taking a Professional Internship in Imagineering or something art related. Are there really many Disney programs geared towards artists?

I'm starting my first CP next month until May. Is there anything you recommend doing to find out about future positions with the Disney Co.?

As far as how to "take action", have you been to DiseyCareers.com ? Type in 'Internship'. Hope this helps! :wave:

The recruiters that work in the Casting building are super super friendly and want to help. If you bring them questions (the more specific the better) they will be happy to help you through the daunting task of applying or even thinking about applying. Be prepared to set up an appointment if you are in the Orlando area. if you are not actually in the area I am sure they can help through emails and the occasional phone call. Good luck!

just be aware that you have to be activily enroled in your school to participate in the profetional internships. I just graduated so this is not an option for me. of course i already work part time. but it would have been nice to get myself up to a higher level of the company. take advantage of it. whats 6 months of your life if it helps you to live a better one for the rest of it.

It's all about networking.

Networking to move up in the company is easier if you are a campus rep.

If it is not possible, then go to the presentation when it is going on at your school this semester and talk to the recruiter. Better yet, find out who the recruiter is (through your school's campus reps) and e-mail them. Let them know things you want to discuss with them when they come visit your school. Until they have a face to go with the questions, you are still just a name so you probably shouldn't ask them via the e-mail.

When you meet them, see what they think of the advanced/management/imagineering internships considering your position. Ask if they know someone who works in casting these roles (aka network yourself, don't just ask questions). You might luck out like I did and meet someone who is family friends with a park's top imagineer. This doesn't mean I'll get an imagineering internship, but it helps me get a recommendation and most likely an interview.

Like mentioned by a previous poster, also contact casting... but again, you might just be a name to them without a face to go with it. I'm tired, so I'm forgetting some stuff... but if I remember it I'll post it.

Best of luck!

thanks for all your advice so far. I'm looking forward to getting this ball rolling. I'll keep checking in on what everyone has to suggest.
