Sorry for the random ramblings in advance, I'm new and had to dump my enthusiasm somewhere

Ok, so I just had a recent visit to WDW (July 7th-July 10th) and for this trip I really felt as if I've finally seen WDW in a new light, I'm 17 now, my last trip was in 2008, I'm only 2 years older but I really feel like this trip was different, I wanted to do/see/experience EVERYTHING. I wanted to be at the parks from early open to magic hour late closings, I couldn’t get enough and I am currently in a state of minor depression upon leaving.

I'm so fascinated with everything about the parks, everything they stand for, the history, the meaning, all the details. I even bought a book to read on my iPhone the plane ride home, The Hidden Magic of Walt DisneyWorld. Its all so interesting all the small things that most people don’t even notice.

<O:p</O:pAll I want to do now is plan my next trip! This one was last minute and I'm so thrilled it happened, even if it was a short trip. I've always loved Disney, but like I said, new and deeper fascination with it now.

LONG story short, I’m VERY interested in the CP, I just found out about it this trip from one of the current participants and she highly recommended it.

Generally speaking is it easy to get into? Not like easy, but not the most exlusive thing ever, you know what I mean?

I'm heading into my first year of College at West Virginia University, and am majoring in Pre-forensics..this is pretty much guaranteed to change next year, and I realize the CP has nothing to do with my current major. Anyway I want to look into a summer program? Or at least I think I do? How do the programs during the school year work?

Also could I get a good job at WDW if I plan on majoring in business? If the CP is everything I’ve heard it is I will definitely be doing it more than once, forming connections perhaps? <O:p</O:p

Any information would be great!
Thanks in advance!<O:p</O:p

I did the Career Start Program the year I graduated from high school. Career Start is basically the same as the College Program, but without having to be in college. I'm also doing the regular College Program this fall.

As for how easy it is to be accepted, they get THOUSANDS of applications for each season (Spring/Spring Advantage & Fall/Fall Advantage), but I think there are only spots for about 3,000ish CPs. They turn away several thousand applicants every semester. Your major does not matter for the CP.

The earlier in the recruiting season that you apply, the better chance of being accepted you have because more spots are still open. The applications are posted on the CP website the end of August & the end of January. You apply in the fall for the spring & in the spring for the fall.

They don't offer a summer program for new applicants, just for those who have done the program before. The spring program runs January/February to May, spring advantage runs January/February to August. The fall advantage program runs May/June to January, and the fall program runs August/September to Janaury.

There are more job opportunites with a business degree at Disney than with a forensics degree, but for many of the positions at Disney that require a degree, you just need one, they aren't as picky as you might think about what it is in. (One of my managers in costuming had an engineering degree, not related at all to getting the characters dressed or doing laundry.)

One of the best parts about the College Program is the networking opportunities. There are networking events for CPs to meet with leaders of different areas.

I hope that helps. Also, there are CP groups on Facebook that you can check out. Most of the people on those are looking into the program for the first time as well, but there are some alumni that lurk on those groups to answer questions & stuff.
