College Program advice/help

Hey guys,
I'm interested in doing the Aug-Jan college program internship. I'm just confused as to how it works with my whole school situation. I tried asking an advisor at my school, but they had no clue as to what it even was. I know you have the option of taking classes or not, but I would need to, as i'm already behind in school. I was thinking I could take a few summer classes prior to stating the program, and then take maybe 2 or 3 classes while i'm down there. How exactly does that work? Do you do online classes, or do you attend classes at a college down in Florida? What information would I have to give my school in order for them to approve this? I was considering doing this my last semester, I filled out everything and set up a phone interview, but ended up having to cancel it due to an unfortunate situation, I hope they won't hold that against me.

I know, a lot of questions, sorry guys.

Thanks!

Hello SxP2006,

Your in luck I just got back from a Jan-Aug CP and boy oh boy was it fun, although I was placed in the parking lot at MK it was so much fun. I see that you are behind in school as you say and if your advisor doesn't know anything about the program it may be hard to determine if any of the classes in WDW are going to transfer to help you not be behind.

As for where the classes are, they are taking place at either Vista or Chatham and I think there were one or two at the Disney University.

If your school needs maybe like a syllabus or something to maybe figure out what classes would transfer try the disneycollegeprogram.com website and they have the syllabi from all the classes.

Hope I helpled!

my school, along with many many others, won't accept the disney transfer credits for classes. if i were you, i'd take like 8 credit hours this summer then maybe while you're there, take some easy online classes through your local community college that will transfer to your university. then take some classes the following summer, and you will have made up the credits you missed, plus some!

Hey,

I'm a senior in HS and I feel your pain...lol. I'm scared of encountering that same problem when the time comes. I have my own similar thread that I started and this post that somebody made really gave me some hope. It might help you out too:

Summer school is definitely one way to get it your credits. If you can't/don't want to do summer school and your school won't grant you the credit, you can apply for credit through another school. The CP website lists five schools that grant to students all over the country. Of course your school then has to accept the credit transfer from the other school, which could be a pain, and also if you have scholarships/loans that depend on you remaining a full time student, you could have problems.

I am a student at Purdue University, and actually Purdue is one of the schools listed on the CP website as one that grants credit, but I'm in the management school and the credit is granted through the school of technology. For some stupid reason they won't take the Tech credit , so I was thinking of getting the credit through CMU. Their website is http://www.wdwcp.cmich.edu/

Good luck with this!!
