News Coco scene coming to Mickey’s PhilharMagic in DCA

We can’t keep this news under Mickey’s sorcerer hat much longer. Fans of “Mickey’s PhilharMagic” will soon be tapping to a new song with the debut of an animated scene based on Disney and Pixar’s “Coco.”

The musical number “Un Poco Loco” will anchor the new scene when it opens to guests at Disney California Adventure park and Disneyland Paris on July 17, before being added to Magic Kingdom Park later this year during the Walt Disney World Resort 50th anniversary celebration.

The film’s fun, upbeat music and characters combined with the humor of Donald Duck marks the first time Disney and Pixar animators have worked on a creative endeavor where characters from both animation studios will be seen together on screen.

Because music is such an integral part of the show, we were also fortunate to tap one of the film’s original composers – the world-renowned Germaine Franco – to produce a “Coco” score unique to “Mickey’s PhilharMagic.”

Guests will enjoy this new scene alongside all of the show’s current fan-favorite musical numbers. Now it’s time to put on those opera glasses and let the show begin!

That was my second thought. My first thought was cool, new Coco scene. Second thought was are they going to try to make the Coco scene look like 90s computer animation or are they ok with it sticking out?

Nice to see something good announced for a change! I’m relieved guests won’t have to buy a Miguel guitar or an electronic alebrije in order to “plus” their experience!

Ooo didn’t consider that. I’m not sure you could “update” it though can you? Wouldn’t they just have to redo the animation?

It’s in DCA and it’s based on classic Disney properties/ songs. It’s alright by me. DCA could use some more attractions that elicit an emotional response. Other than the seasonal Soarin over California score, some scenes on Mermaid and the lobby at the Animation building it’s zilch for me.

They're adding to the show. Not taking anything away.
I heard about this update a few days ago, I was told there would be another new scene. So it's either scrapped or being left out as a surprise.

Would the other scene also be an addition, or a replacement? If the former, that’s really gonna lengthen the show if it happens.

So they are they back to showing Philharmagic at DCA? I know they were showing a preview for Immortals.

My daughter loves watching a youtube recording of Philharmagic and would love to go watch it when we visit in December.

Until its confirmed I am guessing yes. Previously it didnt have hours of operation while Eternals was playing. Now it does.

When I was there Tuesday it was playing Philharmagic with Coco.
