First let me ask you if the employee is responsible for cleaning where they take them home and is it just shirts and the employee provides the pants?

When I worked for a delivery company I was Issued six sets of uniforms and turned in five every week for cleaning and the sixth I was wearing on that day.

second The CMs turns in there costume at the end of there shift to the Costuming Dept. They make shure that the costume is good condition for the next use, there is a system for the correct costume to get to the correct CMs by using a coded card when they check in before each shift. Depending on the costume and the daily weather there could be at least four or five peices to a CMs costume. I'm not shure if each CM has multiple sets for a multi-day week, they may clean each peice every evening for the next shifts use. I do know that WDW has the worlds largest laundry facility, cleaning tons of linnens and towels each day, I belive it is located in the service area behind MK.

Food and Beverage (I believe everyone) can have up to 5 of the main article of clothing. Food and Beverage had shirts and pants. Some places have dresses.

You can have 1 hat, 1 coat, 1 rain suit, I think 1 belt at a time.

When I was leaving they were changing from scanning things yourself to having costuming scan things back in. You could return most articles (those with the barcodes) at any time. Items like belts, rainsuits, gloves, or any small thing without a barcode must be returned to costuming and have them take it off your record.

Everything is computerized. First they scan your id, then the barcodes. They have a set of cards that they keep for items without barcodes.

it all depends on the area..

in MK, CM's come to work in street clothes, and get their wardrobe issued on a daily basis.

in most other areas at WDW, CM's get the option to do like MK, or to take their wardrobe home (also called castzooming). Currently, WDW Global Costuming is implementing a 3 costume limit, stating that a CM may only have 3 non-entertainment costumes issued to their record... there are exceptions to every rule though, and if a CM has a legitimate need for 4 or more, exception can be made.

For internationals, it worked the same way, but I couldn´t get a coat if my pavillion didn´t have it. When it was December and we were freezing and had to work outside of my pavillion, I was issued a coat from Future World because the Mexican Pavillion had not bought coats for the mexican cms. Kinda understandable since the pavillion is all inside...

I did manage to have more than one dress scanned, specially when they decided to cut on costumming cm´s and let us take our costumes home... I am not sure if that´s how it works now, but I thought that would get things out of control.

Before you go back home, they need to give you clearance in wardrobe and check you have nothing on your record or you won´t get your final paycheck. I forgot to do it and left stuff in my locker, but got my final paycheck and everything.:D I hope the person who had opened my locker didn´t faint when he did it cause I left a pair of shoes there! :animwink:

Epcot's policy:

3 full outfits.
2 accessories

I think coats and jackets are on a "one at a time" basis.

You may take your costume home, and you may launder it yourself.

If the costume gets stained or torn, it gets returned to costuming.

This makes everyone who used to never get the right size pants happy. You get one or two pairs of pants that fit and you stick with them ;) Costuming is notorious for giving you the size they think you wear instead of the size you tell them.

So true! If I had the evening shift, I would never find my right size of dress! They would give me a little shorter one which looked ridiculous instead of a little bit longer one which would make me trip (as it happened) for safety reasons. I hated having to wear the shorter one! :animwink:

I'm guilty of one offense.. all mending is supposed to be done by costuming.. but my favorite pair of pants (my standard pants) has 10 buttons... *hides from the WDW security teams now storming his house*

*does a quick count*

My standard uniform has 17 buttons :P Worn a minimum of 3 times a week... Washed daily... It's a miracle I haven't had to resew them all yet!

I'm tempted to get my ball-cap accessory... But i think it would ruin my hair so much that I'd have to redo it every time I changed positions in rotation. gotta keep that show quality up ;)

The biggest costuming nightmare: Blue belts.

Energy, Imagination, and Innoventions are all "blue belt" wearers. Sadly, they're all also a slightly different shade or tone of blue, and I'm sure there's other besides those three I know offhand. Come to think of it, Skippers wear blue belts too, no?

oh the joys of being non-wardrobed... and even then, the few times I have to go there, I have the easiest costumes to wear.. lol

Black Cargo Shorts, Grey T-shirt... easy. Epcot Entertainment Cap if my hair is messi

Khaki Cargo Short, Jungle Print Shirt... no hat. Just as easy.
