Club Level question

So, what do you think would be my chances of getting one of the 35% annual pass discounts for a club level room at The Grand Floridian be? (or any Club level for that matter but that might be my first choice if I got a discount) Would it be really hard to get a cl room there if they did give a discount?

We have gotten AP club level discounts at WL and Poly. You may need to wait before booking club at the GF ~ Sugar Loaf (the outer club level building) just closed for a 2 month refurb. Royal Palm Club in the main building is currently open, but will close down when Sugar Loaf reopens.

However, "regular" guests are given many of the perks found only at club level in other resorts. You can be driven to your building in a golf cart at check in (or directly to your car at check out); the room toiletries are of a higher quality; complimentary bathrobes hang in the closet; nightly turndown service includes fresh towels, pillow fluffing and Belgian chocolates on the bed.

And all the "regular" rooms have been refurbished and are exquisite. We were the first ones to stay in our refurbished room on June 1st, as Sago Cay reopened for guests that day. Each time we walked into the building we were greeted with that new carpet smell .

I'm hoping for next April, towards the end of the month, so plenty of time (I hope) Though I'm not totally sure on how the annual pass discounts work as it's a new experience for me having one. I don't live in the continental US so I don't think I get a newsletter sent to me (just keeping eyes open on websites for when things are released) Even if I don't get a discount it will be nice to splurge and stay at a deluxe resort cause I normally stay at moderate resorts.
From what I understand there are limited numbers of rooms available that have the discount available? Or is it just however many rooms are available at any resort when you try to book?
I've seen people online posting about waiting for discounts and room rates for next year, so I don't think they are available yet? Don't mind me, I get excited thinking about another Disney trip and being able to plan it a bit.

In my experience, I've had no problems getting the room-only discount for CL rooms. I actually even upgraded from a standard room at WL to CL last year b/c standard view didn't get the discount and CL did. It was only $40 more my entire stay to do CL at a discount instead of a standard view. But it may depend on when you want to go. I usually go at the most off-times possible. Just make sure you call as soon as the discounts are announced! Good luck :)

Make sure you register as a passholder on the Disney website (there is a link at the bottom of the page for passholders.) All room discounts/special offers will be listed on the passholder page. You should also receive the quarterly Mickey Monitor newsletter (assuming it is mailed to addresses outside the US) which also will list the available discounts. The passholder page will have them first, so keep checking the page. AP Room discounts typically are released 3-4 months out. Recently, the general public discounts have come out for a certain time period well before the AP discounts do.

Unfortunately, the percentage discount varies among resort levels (deluxe greater than mod, mod more than value) and even among resorts in the same category, with some resorts being excluded entirely. And not all room types within a specific resort will be discounted. You just need to be flexible. Gone are the days when the AP room discount was a flat percentage off every resort for every day of the year :( <sigh>

Any room discounts (outside of perhaps the AAA discount) are meant to fill unoccupied rooms. So say there are 100 rooms at a resort in a given room class. If they are looking for 80% occupancy levels, and currently only have 65 of those 100 rooms booked, then they would offer the discount on 15 of those rooms. Now if there are only 10 CL rooms, and 7 are currently booked, then perhaps only 1 gets offered with a discount. Or if at one resort, say CBR, they are only at 65% occupancy they may offer a 20% discount, while at POFQ they are at 77% occupancy, they may only offer a 10% discount, but in either case only on as many rooms as they wish to book. WDW has no reason to book every room possible at a discount when they know there are plenty of people who don't even know discounts are available and instead choose to book at rack rate, especially last minute.

Outside of AAA discounts once again, discounts are usually only released 90-180 days out. You can see a historical chart here -> http://www.mousesavers.com/historical-information-on-walt-disney-world-resort-discounts/ The room rates for 2015 should be announced sometime in July or August, but you can still book rooms now, they will just adjust the prices when they are released.

They do come up on the passholder section of the WDW website from time to time just depending on availability. Definitely worth it!!
