Hi
I was accepted to the spring advantage college program a little while ago, and in a couple of days I have to return the email about what classes you're planning to take while down there, if any. I can't decide what would be best to take, so I'm hoping there's some alumni out there who could give some advice. I'm interested in the hospitality management class, and my parents think it'd be a good idea to also take the leadership class. Two classes sounds like a lot to take, cause I want to have free time too! Does anyone have any advice from what they took (is it even worth the time to take them - I don't get credit for it, so it'd just be for my own interest)? Thanks for you're help!

I was there in the spring 01.

I took the Speakers Series and started and dropped hospitality management.

I loved the Speaker Series. The president of Disney Cruise Line, someone from merchandise and other heads of departments at WDW. It was either Al Weiss or Paul Pressler that also spoke. 2 non-Disney people spoke as well. Pat Williams, the former GM and still an executive of the Orlando Magic, and Famous Amos (of Famous Amos cookies) spoke as well.

The class took 3 hours one morning (Thurs I think) 1 day a week, then a short paper and a test. Nothing time consuming at all.

Hospitality Management would have been a good class. I dropped the class when I was working 50+ hrs a week. I didn't really have time to focus on the class. It met two times a week. There was a big report of comparing 4 stores in Orlando.

The main classes would take up more time. I gained some good knowledge from the class I was in (mainly due to hearing from several foreigners from throughout the world). I think any would be great to take, but they will all take more time than you may be willing to give up.
