Circus vs. WDW

So I just got home from a day at the Ringling Bros. Barnum and Bailey Circus (yes, its the day after Christmas; don't ask). After a hefty entrance fee, I noticed the $15 programs, the $3 sodas, the $16 spinning light toys, the $10 cotton candy, and the $4 minuscule-sized popcorn. I then experienced a mediocre show with a few animal acts, and what primarily amounted to a group of gymnasts and a clown. I also observed a staff of non-performer workers who would never make it past their first day at Disney without a reprimand or a pink slip. After months of reading of Disney's waning quality of entertainment "bang for the buck" on this forum, I left the show realizing that WDW provides almost everything I saw today at the circus plus countless other attractions and shows for the price of admission, except that the folks at Disney do it much better. Let's never go fanboy and lose our perspective, but let us also remember that Disney continues to provide a day of quality entertainment with a well trained staff of workers. I'm getting new AP's as soon as I can.

3 BUCKS FOR A SODA?!!:eek: Disney's prices are pretty close to that but even THEY don't charge quite that much! Was that a bottle or a can?
Anyway, good story. Sometimes, we get so used to how Disney does things and freak out when it's cut back a little, that we forget just how good we have it

Same size plastic bottle as WDW. The more shocking thing was the $10 cotton candy. For that price it had better come with a personal servant to feed me each puffy strand.

Yea, we were "clowning around" (;)) with the idea of going to the circus during its run here, but after seeing the ticket prices, no way. I'm sure its a nice show, but 60 bucks for the three of us to go? We just can't justify that.

I took the kids over to see The Rockettes two or three weeks ago. I haven't seen them in a dogs age. Well, it was nice, but really just nice.

After dropping somwhere in the range of $175 for three tickets (back of the upper mezzanine) I know exactly where you are comming from.

Sodas were $3 there as well. $10 spinny things were all over the place. I did break down and buy my youngest daughter a $27 snow glow (yes, thats not a typo, $27) But it was at least a decent cast resin one, and she does have a collection of snow globes.

I too was thinking of taking the kids to the circus and I passed after looking at where the prices have gone (They got Mary Poppins tickets for Xmas, so they will have to be happy with that :) )

Thats also one of the reasons we like the Disney Cruises as well. We pay (and yes its a lot) but the service is excellet and everything (mostly) is paid for. The kids save and get a gift card for any trinkets they want, and all shore excursions are all paid in advance. Thats as oppsed to getting hit up for $10 cotton candy.

The only place in WDW that I have felt was like a circus (or any arena show for that matter) is Fantasmic!

Circus is cheap compared to $235 a ticket for the Police reunion tour, $190 for the Eagles, $145 for Bon Jovi. I thought the Billy Joel show at $90 was a steal.

Personally, I think Circuses are cruel and inhuman to animals. They lock them in those horrible small crates/cages, and abuse the animals. No wonder you see a video of those animals snapping every few months.

I've always felt that with our Annual Passes we get 110%. The CM's do a fantastic job as does every other person that works there to make my vacation wonderful. :D

Here's something a bit ironic....Barnum & Bailey is a Feld Entertainment show...
which Also does Disney on Ice & Disney Live...http://www.feldentertainment.com/productions1.htm:lookaroun
