Does anyone remember the AT&T or even the Bell Labs exhibit that was in the current Buzz Lightyear gift shop? I remember it was a lot of fun to use their hands free phones in the booths and get messages from Mickey Mouse.

I do, also the pre-show where they had some challenges and other fun stuff. I remember making multiple phone calls from the special Speaker phone booths with my parents, calling folks like my grandparents and other relatives.

Also the old school operator plug in the phone lines contest, which were timed.

I worked at Disneyland in the mid 1980's, and I worked on the PSA attraction: American Journey's Presented in CircleVision 360. With the collapse of the Bell System, the old "America The Beautiful" attraction in the CircleVision theatre reverted to an unsponsored attraction. Then, PSA stepped up to the plate and became a sponsor of a NEW CircleVision presentation and remodeled theatre. The pre-show area had a huge wall, with a chronology of backlit photos of all of the Flight Attendant's uniforms. There was also a large stage area that presented a show about the history of flight presented by Orville and Wilbur (cartoon characters from the "Rescuers"). We all wore a unique banded collar white shirt with the PSA colors on the collar and the placket. Prior to the movie being started in the main theatre, a single, classy PSA logo played on the screen. Later, the theatre began to show the "Wonders of China", also in CircleVision 360. After PSA was acquired by USAir, the sponsorship reverted to Delta Airlines, as the sole "official airline" of Disneyland and Walt Disney World.<<

Using the speaker-phone booths was an annual tradition for my family! We'd all crowd in and make a group call to whichever family member couldn't join us for that trip! :D

I'd forgotten about the pre-show Rescuers film! Loved that! :D

My family had that same exact custom, right into the early 1980's before the Bell System left.

That conference call phone booth, or "Family Phone Booth" as it was called, was pure exotica even into the early Reagan years. It was a concept the Bell System first displayed at the 1964 World's Fair, and brought to Disneyland when they redid that post-show area in 1967.

On those annual Disneyland visits we used to call the family matriarch up in Friendly Hills who was happy to stay home, but she kept all the extra E Ticket leftovers from previous visits in a May Company shoebox and would dole them out to the grandkids the night before every Disneyland visit. There were also some leftover A and B Tickets, but mysteriously always a handful of E Tickets too.

The truth was that she would always slip me a $20 bill the morning we left for Disneyland and instruct me to buy a stack of extra E Tickets to bring home so she could restock the shoebox for the next Disneyland visit the following summer or Christmas. The grandkids, all now grown with their own children, never caught on. Should I tell them?

But the best thing was when AT&T pulled out, and Circlevision got a new sponsor.

My God, do I dearly miss Pacific Southwest Airlines! With the painted on smiles on the nose of their planes, and with stewardesses whose genuine smiles weren't just painted on. What the heck has happened to the now-wretched airlines in this otherwise wonderful country?!?

PSA was the first airline I ever flew! I remember their fabulous flight attendants well.

As a kid, flew a lot of San Diego to Burbank flights. My Uncle lived in Burbank, so many weekends to visit my cousins. I remember the old NCR cash registers with simple cardboard tickets.

Plus I was lucky enough to have the neighbor's right across the street daughter being a PSA stewardess. A bit too old for me, but nice to look at when she was headed to work.

I remember getting PSA airline miles at Disneyland, you had to fill out a form at the old Kodak shop on Main Street, think it was limited to 4 times a year (every 90 days).
