Chronicles of Narnia Attraction?

With Disney being the brains behind the upcoming Chronicles of Narnia movies, what are your thoughts about the possibilities of a new attraction with a Narnia theme? Which park? What type of attraction? Random thoughts?

I. for one, think a Narnia attraction would be a great idea. I feel confident this is going to be a blockbuster for Disney. Hopefully, the Imagineers are already coming up with some great possibilities for this franchise.

Personally, I don't think it's strong enough to actually carry a classic attraction. Narnia, dispite being great books, are nowhere near the scale of epics like LotR and Harry Potter. They also don't have the classic appeal of films and stories like Mary Poppins and The Lion King. I think the movies will be good, but I honestly don't expect them to be anymore than that.

Or maybe I have just become jaded to Disney Pictures.

They should create a Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy attraction.

But honestly, I never pictured Disney doing the Hitchhiker's series. I hope it is a success as I loved the books.

The only possible rumor I've heard about Narnia is that (depending on box office revenues, of course) the next land at Animal Kingdom could be themed to Narnia. However, Australia and Mysterious Island are also rumored for that same land. But I've heard that whatever the theme, Animal Kingdom will announce a new land when EE is completed, maybe a little after. Narnia is one of those possible lands.

If they do decide to use Narnia I think the original concept behind AK would lose all credibility. Beastly Kingdom or Mysterious Island would fit because it's such a broad concept. Narnia is from a book.

Give me Australia.

I would say if it does well, it would be pretty likely as a new attraction. I could see a great E-Ticket based on either The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe or the 2nd movie (4th book), Prince Caspian, as MGM's next E-Ticket.

My thoughts exactly. Narnia would be a good replacement for the purposed “Beastly kingdom” However I think Australia will and should come before any thing else.

Why don't they put an attraction in the 20k area? Narnia is, after all, fantasy.
Very good idea. Fantasy land could use another dark ride and one based on Narnia has the potential to become an instant classic.

i disagree... as long as this movie is done right, it's going to be a blockbuster!
i think the idea of Narnia as a land in the Animal Kingdom is a great idea, but i don't see disney doing it. maybe it would be in conjunction with the rumored Beastly Kingdom?
As far as an attraction, a dark ride would be awesome! starting in a bedroom, and being transported through an armoire/wardrobe. but then again, one ouf our most recent dark rides - pooh - i feel got the shaft. the vehicle effects are great, but i'm just not impressed with statues with moving arms, when audio animatronics are much more believable.
narnia has it's place in disney, if done correctly.

i agree it's going to be BIG. The narnia series was popular, at least in my school, growing up. I haven't met anyone that hasn't read them. Much like lord of the rings, the scale of the two can't really be compared. I bring this movie to everyones attention when I see them. and when I say the lion the witch and the wardrobe most people say awesome. I am hoping for the best because I would love to see asland somewhere in disneyworld. and hitchiker, waaaaaay cool to. it's a science fiction classic and also if done right can be real big for disney. it's one of my personal favorites. I am so thank full disney isn't getting mixed up in ruining sci fi classics (aka war of the worlds) the origional was good but the new one is gonna be terrible.

My first thought........

...was that the 20K site would be a great place for a Narnia dark ride. Glad to see others agree.

I feel this will be a major blockbuster unless Disney tries to stray too far from the books. LOTR, hopefully, paved the road upon which Disney will traverse.

But alas! Mysterious Island is ALSO from a book, is it not?

Anyway, to me Narnia has the same credibility as Beastly Kingdom or Mysterious Island. The point is to add thrills, family diversions, and perpetually loading attractions that would balance out the attraction lineup for the park. (Not to mention adding the necessary "mythical land" theme to AK) Win over the thrill-seekers, but don't forget the families...and AK can finally extend operating hours! I'd like to see something like this, for one.

I agree. I would think this would be a great addition to Fantasyland once WDC has milked everything they can from the meet and greet area now being put in place in th old 20K area. From what I hear (reviews), the new Heffalump (sp?) movie is a compete flop, so with an upcoming blockbuster like Narnia, it would serve them well to build an attraction which would unload into a Narnia giftshop:rolleyes: .

In all honesty I'm not a fan with Mysterious Island coming to Animal Kingdom either, considering it's more of a Verne-themed fantasy land. Animals aren't the primary focus. When the most memorable book in the Narnia Chronicles though is limited to a talking lion and wolf-headed-hunter, I cannot imagine it being creative or awe-inspiring enough to warrant it's own land in Animal Kingdom. A dark ride COULD work, but I wouldn't hold my breath on it being some amazing, high-concept ride... expect another Pooh.

I'm a fan of the stories, but I really don't think they are deserving of an attraction, let alone a whole land.

Personally, I dont think that a Narnia land would stay busy enough to compete with all the other lands in AK, and I dont think if I had one day to go to AK, that unless there were some really really really good rides, that I would take the time to visit. I dont mean to blow off the idea, it was a good one, but its just my opinon. Sorry!

I think the movie will be big- it's one of the rare stories that is known and enjoyed by my grandparents, parents, and me - that wide audience should be helpful. And the early special effects look fantastic.

I think a ride is inevitable if it's a blockbuster, if not, I think it will go the route of the Reign of Fire ride rumors!

Narnia

The potential of an attraction for this is great. It could have immense theming akin to ToT. Imagine to board the ride, you could enter thru a wardrobe! Where upon you immediately experience snow while waiting for your car or train.

I actually think this would work well as a boat ride. Along the lines of PoTC style as it takes you thru the world of Narnia. But know we are looking at big budgets, and we all know where they end up!

I would be excited if they did this just because I remember reading the books (I found them better than LOTR). I'm sure with the proper marketing that it would become a popular hit.
