Christmas Trip

Can anyone let me know what they have thought of Disney at Christmas time? Also, are there any ideas of things to do or events that may not be as well known? What are the crowds like during the week of 12/15-12/23?

There's nothing like Walt Disney World at Christmas. The decorations just take your breath away. We've been down 4 times, twice for the holidays (Thanksgiving, but everything is decorated for Christmas.) I don't think I'd go any other time. Tentatively planning on that 3rd week of December this year ourselves.

We went last year in early December and we are going back this year, November 29-December 7th!!:sohappy: That is how much we enjoyed Christmas time in Disney (LOL). If you can, try to get tickets to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party at the Magic Kingdom. Definately worth the extra money in my opinion. During the party there are holiday shows throughout the park, a holiday parade, special holiday fireworks, and it even snows on Main Street! Cookies and hot coco are also included in the ticket price. At Epcot they have the Candlelight Processional and Illuminations has a holiday grand finale that is breathtaking. All the resorts and parks are decorated. I can't comment on the crowds during the time you are going, but from what I've read, they aren't too bad. I love Disney World at Christmas, it is my favorite time of year to visit. You will have a great time, enjoy! :xmas:

Hello from a fellow Mass person.

The last two years we went down in early December and it was great and will be there Nov 28th to the 5th of December this year. The early part of December is great, I've heard it really get's busy the closer you get to Christmas especially the days leading up to Christmas. My guess is that the first part of your vacation up to the 20th will be alright but after that it will be real busy.

As others have said you have to visit the Resorts to see the Christmas Decorations, especially GF and BC, they have the best Gingerbread displays, but other resorts are really decorated nice.

Have a great time.

We went to MK on Christmas Day 2005 the crowd was unbearable. The decorations are beautiful. I think that any time you get to go to Disney is wonderful, but here are times of the year where you may have very long waits and the week of Christmas is one of them.

We're tentatively planning a visit Nov. 25-Dec.1 (We'll be in Charleston, SC for a wedding on the 24th, and it's only a short 6 hour drive to WDW!!!) Do the crowds from Thanksgiving stick around much after that following weekend? We've only been there at Halloween and are hoping for similar crowds. I'm anxious to see the decorations, but not at the expense of battling throngs of people. Also, when does the Candlelight Processional begin? Is there a chance they'll hold it during that week, or does it start later in December?

Thanks for your help!

Last year we were there on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and we didn't think the crowds were bad at all. I think most probably leave that Sunday. We didn't catch the candle light processional but I do remember seeing the schedule and it is there that week I think it may even start before Thanksgiving.
