While I hate to dissuade you from doing something you want to do, watching the parade taping is far from entertaining for most people. The reality of the shooting is incredibly different from the final product. They don't simply run the parade and film it. They run a section, back it up and do it again. Then back they it up and do it again. This might happen 5-6 times for each section and the shine of watching the parade taping wears off really quick.

It can be somewhat enjoyable if you are by yourself or with a group that really wants to watch the filming, but if you have kids they better be of the very patient variety.

Correct.

We experienced it, by accident, this past December. The first day was kind of fun, because we got right up at the stage, and also where Maria Menounos and Samantha Brown were filming their spots.

But Day 2 was completely uneventful. We stood in the sun for a few hours, and finally bailed. That was "parade" day and there was no parade. Just camera men all over the place.

How does this affect the Christmas party days if at all?? I'm not interested in watching or being part of the parade taping. Can the crowds be worked around while enjoying the rest of the park?

Absolutely. The crows are concentrated around the hub and Main St. The crowds are typically pretty light once you get past that.

We were there this past year and it was horrible. I was so excited bc we got to see air force fly over, but other then that horrible day. it was neat seeing them tape merida riding but we keep walking. Way to crowded and it is very difficult to get anywhere in the park. A lot roped off. If it wasnt for my daughters birthday and reservations at crt and bbb we would have left. If you have kids I definitely stay away.

I was there on a sat so crowds were really bad no matter where you were in the park. Not sure about the days prior. Almost unwalkable.

The taping is boring... and they take all of the decorations down! BOO!

agree and a traffic nightmare of throngs of people one way direction walking in and out, I have never seen main street so trashed and trampled as I did last year, and will never step foot in the place again on taping days. Piles of cables in plants, the hub is nothing but tech equip, paper and trash all over the streets, a mess. They just got those nice trees to growing too in the hub this year, hate to see everything all uprooted and ruined again.

So how does the taping affect the other parks?

I don't think it affects the other parks much at all. It's a slow time of year, and most guests are completely unaware that the taping is happening until they get to the MK. If they're determined to go to the MK those days, there's nothing to stop them, because the rest of the park is normal. It only affects Main Street.

All those reasons are why I personally enjoyed the parts of the taping we DID see (mainly the live performance day, which was Friday). I have a technical background and ate up all the camera and production gear.

But for a day guest anticipating a magical theme park, it's definitely not that - at least on Main Street. Looks more like a DHS backlot (from the good 'ol days).

They had their mess cleaned up each night. In fact, on Saturday, they were packing out all of the production equipment by mid-afternoon, if I recall. If there were Christmas Parties on either of those nights, they were unaffected.

And even then, the rest of the MK - outside of Main Street - was also unaffected.
