Anyone going to the Magic Kingdom during December take the time to go to the lighting of the Christmas Tree in town square. If you have small children get there at least a half hour before the show and wait on the sidewalk facing the train station. Members of the show come down about a half hour before the show and select children to be in the show. The children get to appear on the Train Station with Mickey, Minnie and many other Disney Charactors and they recieve a present from WDW.

I was there for MVMCP during the first week of December and the park "closed" at 6. The Tree lighting was at 5:30 I believe.
I assume it's around that time each evening.

It's a great way to get a bunch of "non-MVMCP" guests to head toward the exits as the Party guests arrive!

At Epcot they also do a tree lighting ceremony and it is at 5:30 each evening before the Carillon show.
