Hi Everyone, I'm pretty new to this forum and was looking for some advice with planning over the christmas period. We have been to WDW before but always during the summer (last 2 weeks of august) this time we're travelling on the 18th dec through to Jan 1st.
I understand the parks are going to be horrifically busy???

Please take a look at our plans below (so far) we may have to shuffle around nearer the time when the EMHs are released, so we can try and make use of them.
Any suggestions, or tips would be much appreciated.

Thanks Stace&Tink :)

You got that right -- "horrifically busy???"

To help you out, there is a thread that was just started the other day in WDW parks general discussion. Someone is also planning a December trip.

Here's another thread that was posted in January.

If you are unable to reschedule your trip in December 2010 to a week or so earlier, you will not run into the super thick crowds as the world approaches Christmas and New Years Eve.

I would ecourage a side trip to Universal Orlando and SeaWorld, as well as Busch Gardens, if you have the time and extra $$$.

But with anything this late in the year and in the thick of the December holiday season, take everything with a grain of salt, at they say. Parks will be at or near capacity in WDW, and most likely at Universal and SeaWorld.

Anything after Dec. 17-20, based on reading previous posts on this site from guests, that the weather conditions tend to be cooler and the crowd-levels and wait times significantly heavier. You will also miss out on the special Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, but the Magic Kingdom decides to use the special party parade as a daytime parade.

If you schedule your trip anywhere between Dec. 1-17 you will likely see crowd levels at a minimum and ride times at a minimum, not just at the WDW parks, but at Universal and SeaWorld.

Best of luck.

Lets get things straight here - Christmas is BUSY, ESPECIALLY the week between Christmas and New Year.

HOWEVER, there is a bright side. We experienced our first Disney Christmas in Dec 08, we arrived on December 25th and left Jan 3rd. (Unfortunately, we have to visit Disney during peak times due to work and school holidays) - we found the parks no busier than when we'd previously visited over Easter or during August. We expected chaos, we planned for chaos and were very pleasantly surprised.

The only exceptions were New Years Eve when we went to EPCOT (arrived around 9am and left the following year ) It was chaotic. Also New Years Day when we visited Disneys Hollywood Studios - we arrived during the mornings EMH to find lines for Toy Story Mania already at over an hour and the Fast Pass line was at 30 minutes and that was to get your tickets, not the return time for the ride.

Expect the worst and have a blast - we did
