How far in advance (of your stay)would be considered reasonable to call a hotel to request a room at a certain part of the hotel ?

No more than 5-7 days...any more than that. Before that time frame, they are not too concerned about your reservation.

It is best to make your room request(s) at the same time you make your reservation. Room assigners at most (if not all) WDW resorts are always swamped with faxes and phone calls for room requests. For the most part, they ignore these requests unless there are medical or safety issues involved.

This is for a non-WDW resort.

I use to work as a front desk manager at one of the largest off-property resorts. At the time you make the reservation, you should make your bed type and smoking preferences. If you have specific requests (floor, view, or location) call a few days before you arrive. Before this time, many hotels can't block your room, or will not block your room.

Also, if you want a premium view (pool or whatnot) many hotels charge extra, and will not give you the view unless you agree to pay.

thanks Speck.
In actual fact,I want a room away from the pool (I had read that sometimes there is activity late into the night in the pool area and I would prefer a quieter spot).

Cool! I've stayed there myself. It very close to the Pop Century.

They have a toll free number (1-877-387-5437) so I'd just call them a least two weeks before and follow up with a few more calls before your reservation date.

That's a nice resort. I'm sure you'll have a good time!:sohappy:
