Choosing a Dinning Plan

I have a few questions about DVC and dinning and would appreciate any help. My fiance and I will be going on our honeymoon in early September and we are using my 'rents DVC points to stay at VWL. I was hoping to do the dinning plan for us, but I wanted to price it out first and I can't seem to do that on the waltdisneyworld website without selecting a resort too. Is there any way to play around with the plans minus the resort room?

Also, I know that DVC members are entitled to book a dinning plan but can they choose from the basic, premium, and platnium plans?

Finally (sorry for the many questions) I know that free dinning is often offered for August/September. Can DVC members get free dinning too? When is this usually announced? If I book dinning now, can I take it off and get the free dinning?

Like I said, lots of questions! Thanks in advance for the help!!

When staying at a DVC resort, you can book the dining plan for your entire stay. It cannot be booked for part of the stay. The current cost is $39 per day, per adult. We used the plan last summer and loved it, although my younger daughter said it was too much food.

For all the details, you can go to the DVC website. I have to tell you, though, that you won't find anything if you keep typing "dinning plan". Lose an "n", OK?

Good luck:wave:

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the free dining plan is only offered as part of a package where you are booking a non-discounted room along with park tickets. A DVC stay cannot use free dining (but your room "rate" is way below rack rates). Besides, they don't need to entice DVC members to come back to WDW with free dining. They entice us by giving us a $100 discount on annual passes which has caused my family to make more trips per year where we spend more money on food and souvenirs. (Evil, Evil DVC).

Thanks for the help! I figured the free dining didn't apply to us, but its worth looking into. And sorry about the spelling, not the best without my spellcheck!;)

I just thought I would post what I did find on DVC's site since I found it hard to navigate (in case anyone else is looking at this thread for information):

Once your at the dvcmember.com site, go to the "just for members" link at the top of the page, then click on "whats new", and then click on "disney dining plan now available to members". That contained all the information.
