child dining age?

Hi I noticed in a previous thread that someone said the dining age for a child
is 3-11. (the resturants mentioned were for fantasmic priority seating)

Is this really the age, because my Unoficial guide for 2006 says its 3-9 for the same resturants? I am really excited about this being correct because my 11y/o is such a picky/poor eater I would be thrilled :sohappy: not to have to pay adult prices for him to eat(I think the person posting was a CM so they must be right ) Also would this be the age for the character breakfasts also?

I am ordered the dining plan and just got my confirmation for my trip in april and my paper work says the children ages 3-9 have to eat off the childrens menu but this is because we have the dining plan. I am not sure if the 3-9 age would be the same for you or not . :veryconfu

My daughter was 10 on our last visit and she still ordered off the kid's menu at times, they always asked if we wanted one when we were seated. She takes both and then decides what she wants. At the fast food type restaurants we just ordered whatever kid's meal she wanted and nobody ever gave us any hassles.

Child dining ages are now 3-9 because of the new dining plan. In order for it all to work they had to make the dining age the same as the admission age so the same card could be used. When it comes to dining though, most restaurants won't mind giving you a kids menu when they see you are with a 10 year old child. Also when you make you check in at the restaurant you can tell them that the child is 9 and they won't question you at all. If your child isn't going to eat an adult meal there is no reason they should have to get one and most places in Disney won't object to that.

Our youngest kids are 14 year old twin girls and a 12 year old daughter. Even at 14, one or both of the twins will order something from the kid's menu at times. One time at Citrico's they even ordered a second kid's entree because thay were really hungry The 12 year old still orders exclusively from the kids menu. We don't do this to save money; just to find something for them to eat. The 12 year old often can't find anything on the adult menu. We've never had a problem with WDW restaurant staff.
We don't do the Disney Dining Plan so I have no idea how that impacts things

With DDP you pay children's price for 3-9yo, adult price for 10+. If your 10+ want to order from the children's menu they can, but the meal costs one table service or counter service meal as appropriate. DS10 was very pleased that he was an "adult" as far as Disney was concerned. :lol:

We're doing the dining plan this next trip. Our son will have just turned 12 and my daughter will be 9. My son would be happy eating chickent fingers (as will lmy daughter, but np there since she'll be on the childs plan). What we're going to do in the sit down place where he can't find anyting on the "adult" menu that he wants, we'll just let him order his chicken fingers and save that adult sit down credit for another meal. He love steak though, so I don't think this is going to be a problem. :lol: Now, eating all of that food..... that's another story. :lol:

Since your off-site, DDP isn't available. So, book ADRs and you'll be able to order from whichever menu you want for the kids. I think you have to specify their age for CRT, because it is paid in advance, but for anywhere that isn't, it shouldn't matter. Except buffets, then it's age-based as well.

Before seating you at a buffet, the restaurant will ask if any of your party is 9 and under - at these places you will still have to pay adult prices for your son.

Most places let my 11 god daughter order from the kid's menu if she wanted to - but when I paid cash at Ohana's they specifically asked if she was 9 or under and the charge was indeed $17.99 for her breakfast (as I expected it to be).

I'm going to be 40 in 2 weeks and have no problem getting a kids' menu at any WDW-owned restaurant (I'm a local so don't have the opportunity to do any special vacation dining plans). Sometimes Mickey mac & cheese really hits the spot...(grin)
