Chicken Little VS Stitch

Ok with Chicken Little coming out of the box strong. How long will it be before Chicken Little starts trying to rival Stitch in the overkill dept at WDW?

Personally, I would rather have Chicken Little rammed down my throat any day instead of Stitch. Stitch makes me miserable. Maybe they should make Chicken Little's Great Escape! I would ride that.

Why all the Stitch Hate Mail

Personally I think Stitch was the best character designed by Disney since Lion King, it really bugs me the amount of hate towards him, and to be fair to Disney they haven't had a strong Licensed Product to push on Customers, so when one comes along there gonna run with it. Yes a do think Disney went over the top, but as i said they just haven't had a strong franchise for a good five years, maybe more.

It is because people get annoyed with things that are constantly in our face. If stitch was only mildly used throughout WDW there would be no problem. But when you can't walk into a shop without getting bombarded with stitch merchandise it is overkill.

I agree. In understand that Stitch's Great Escape was a let-down to a lot of people, but the character is still exceptionally popular. Despite doing well at the box office (exceeding any expectations) I don't think Chicken Little will have the same kind of staying power at the parks that Stitch has had.

They are certainly the most popular non-Pixar Disney animated features in a long, long time. And I can understand why Disney would want to feature them prominently.

Some folks have bee crying "fowl" (get it?) about the look and design of Chicken Little. They are claiming that he is a blatant rip-off of Warner Brothers character Egghead, Jr from the Foghorn Leghorn cartoons. I can see it. You be the judge.

Supply and Demand

If a film does well in the box office, you can be sure Disney will make something of it in the park. Chicken Little is an important project for Disney, seeing as its the first feature animated film since Brother Bear, and the first CGI film, Disney has a lot to prove in the eye of the market. So if it has even minor success Disney will Milk it for all they can, as far as feature animation is concerned its a brave new step.

You're forgetting "Home on the Range". Then again, who can blame you for that.

I just love Stitch. I also can't understand why all the hate towards him. I will say that the attraction is not all that great. I expected more.

I haven't seen the movie Chicken Little yet but it does look good.

Really, this isn't that big of a deal. And to be honest, animators have been doing this for years. For two recent examples, look at the Abominable Snowman from Monsters, Inc compared to the Yeti from The Island of Misfit Toys. Or the cars from Cars and the cars from Susie the Little Blue Coupe.

Does that make them bad animators or bad characters? Nope. Not in my opinion, anyway. Egghead Jr and Chicken Little have diametrically very different personalities, and that's what sets them apart, even if the designs are similar. Besides, there's nothing wrong with artists paying tribute to characters from the past.

(On a side note, I had a couple of pictures of the referenced characters, but it says I may not post attachments. Wha-? I have a photo album and everything! Can anyone gimme some advice here?)

I agree to an extent. I don't think your comparison's are quite apples to apples though. The Abominable Snowman was a pretty small character in Monster's Inc as opposed to Chicken Little who is the protagonist.

I'd never heard of Suzie the Little Blue Coupe, so I Googled it and came up empty handed. We're not exactly talking about something that is in the public awareness when it doesn't even show up in a google search. Also, we're not talking about lifting one character design, but rather a design for a character type; humanized cars. There's only so many ways you can make a car look human - so there are bound to be similarities.

Having not seen Chicken Little, I'll take your word for the fact that the personalities are substantialy different.

I agree with you it's not a big deal either way. Although when the next Disney feature is based on a carrot-chomping smart alecky grey rabbit, I'm going to get a little twitchy.

You say that now but what if they turn Space Mountain into Chicken Littles Great space Adventure.

Heh. Yeah, I agree with you there...

When I checked Yahoo Images for Susie the Little Blue Coupe I only got a handful of pictures. Ya just gotta make sure you spell it with an "s", not a "z". Like I mentioned, I have a couple of images of each character, but I didn't know how to post 'em (ahem). So instead, Here's the address.
