Does anyone know if WDW still takes *out of state checks? They did last time I was there. (in 2004)

*I know it's a little redundant to say "I'm from out of state." in a WDW shop, lol

To tell you the truth I don't know, but I don't see why WDW wouldn't. I mean most of the guest are from out of town and very few of them carry cash. To me takeing out of town checks would be a good idea, but then again I'm not the person who makes that decision.

I think that they would accept debit/check cards, but would be very surprised if they accepted personal checks. I work in a financial institution, and I can just imagine how difficult and time consuming it would be to try to collect on checks that are insufficient. Granted, you would like to think that someone visiting the parks would have enough in their account back home to cover the checks, but that would be a big risk for Disney to take.

You might find it easier to leave a check at the front desk and charge your purchases to your room key.

You can check on your balance each day (I would assume by phone rather than having to go to the desk), and add money as necessary.

It is just soooo easy to whip out the room key, and much faster than writing a check for a $3 ice cream.

haven't been since May, but I personally do not own or use a debit card (last of the 30 yr old dino's I know, no cell either ). Made several purchases, mostly in the resort gift shop using personal checks without problem, they run them through their machines and usually the money is taken out just like a debit card (thats how they do it here at grocery stores and gas stations as well) wouldn't bother w/checkbook inside the parks, would just use the room key then. and super big purchases on disney visa card in case their is a problem later on.

Off-site

Thanks for the advice, but I'm staying off-site this time, in a house my mom&dad are renting.
