Checking in to your resort

How do you handle getting into a park and checking into your resort on the same day? Do you have to wait until you check in to go to the park? Or can you drop your stuff off at the resort and go to the park and check in later? Anyone know the check in procedures? Thanks!

We have checked in as early as 7 am at POR. They will give you your room keys that has your ticket media on it and your ready to go. You can then go to a park and most likely you can be there when it opens for the day, therefore you get a whole day out of your tickets for the first day. You still wont get your room till the afternoon for the most part. They will give you a card with a number on it to call from any phone on the property. Call it in the afternoon and they will ask you your name, if your room is ready they will give you the room number. Thats it, when you return to the resort just go to your room, no need to stop at front desk. If your luggage was left with bell services it sohuld be in your room. By doing this you also avoid the mid afternoon rush to check-in at 3pm.

We stayed at WL for my birthday last May. You have to go through the parking toll to reach the Lodge, so we told them we were checking in, they waived us through without fee. We parked, checked in and hopped on the ferry over to MK. It just depends on where you're staying, where you want to go first, if you already have your tickets or if you need to get them; things like that. If the room hadn't been ready (it was), they would have held our luggage for us until it was. Might as well check in, because then you can use your room key to charge things in the park and not worry about carrying cash.
