Chase disney visa Card perks -- what are they???

I recently opened a disney visa card to help with saving for our future trips to disney -- we are going next week!!!! I have been looking at the discounts and such. I am hoping to take advantage of the free character meet and greet. Even though my boys are 9 i figure it might still be cute for all of us to get in the pic.

My question is -- i see it mentions "select merchandise" and "select locations" -- is it really limited the places and items that you can get discounts on? From those of you who have the card what stores in the parks can you use it at and is it really only on certain items in those stores?

I see the restaurants that participate but the information on the Chase website is vague when it comes to the stores that offer the discount.

I just want to take full advantage of the savings while i am there.

Just make sure you ask at every location if a Chase Visa discount is offered (so much easier than trying to remember all the locations!) The website is purposely vague so that changes can be made at Disney's discretion. Excluded merchandise usually refers to expensive designer stuff, like the Dooney & Bourke bags; most everything else will qualify.

Definitely take advantage of the meet and greet!

Definitely do the MnG. It only runs for a certain period of time each day, and I think it's done by mid-afternoon. It's in Innoventions and is fairly hidden. You'll need to ask a CM if you can't find it. I just followed my wife :p

Most Disney-owned stores (i.e. all the stores in the parks, and a couple at Downtown Disney) have a Disney Visa discount. As Tuvalu said, you'll want to ask as soon as you get to the register if they have a Disney Visa discount.

I don't know about dining. We are typically on a Dining Plan, or Tables in Wonderland. Other times, we'd use our DVC discount.

The merch discount is pretty much at any Disney O/O store. If you read the fine print at the bottom of the page, they list the exclusions. Basically non Disney stores are excluded, and non Disney merch (think Hummel, Cobra Golf, etc). The full list of perks at WDW can be found here -> https://disneyrewards.com/vacation-perks/ And as I said, make sure to scroll down to the bottom to read the fine print. That explains alot of the vague statements they make elsewhere.

They extended the hours last year and it is now 1pm-7pm daily. I find that if you hit it later in the day there is typically minimal waits.

Don't know if it's an "okay" site but Allears has a great chart summarizing all the meal discounts including the Chase Visa one: Dining Discounts

My wife and I both have one, and have been building up points to spend on our next trip. It isn't for about 10 months, so I haven't really looked into redeeming the points yet. How is it done? Does it have to be done before we get to the parks and they mail us a gift card, or is it something that we can redeem at the register at POS?

Whoever the primary card holder is has to call and get the points transferred to a Disney Rewards Card, which is basically like a gift card for use at Disney locations. The card will have an expiration date, so you can add more points to it up until that date. Make sure you do it at least 2 weeks before your trip. We usually call a month or more before our trips and then call back to add more points when we actually get to Disney.

You can check Visa's website to see if it's still the case, but I was able to get a rewards card right in the parks. I happened to get it at Guest Relations just inside the AK gate. They swiped my card to verify some info., went out back, and came back with an envelope. The envelope had an empty, but 'active' rewards card in it. All I had to do was call the Visa number, verify some more info., and I had a valid rewards card to use. (I waited until I got to the World because I wanted to maximize my rewards balance.)

You need to get a rewards card. As stated, you can call and have them mail you one (need to add something like 20 dollars worth of points at the time and it takes a few weeks to send) or you can pick up a "blank" one at guest services in park which you then call and activate and have them transfer the rewards points. The cards should be good til Dec of the following year (or there abouts). The process of adding on points doesn't take long at all, maybe 2-3 minutes on the phone.

If you have an online account with Visa for your Disney Chase Visa, you can also do all of this online- get a card, manage it/transfer points to it. The points go instantly to the card.
