Charter Communications Agrees to Keep ABC Family
BURBANK, Calif. (Reuters) -- ABC Cable Networks Group said Thursday it has entered into an agreement for the continued transmission of its ABC Family channel over the Charter Communications Inc.'s cable network. The agreement ensures that ABC Family, a cable television channel owned by The Walt Disney Co., will continue to be available to Charter customers. A Disney spokeswoman said the deal was a multiyear agreement, but declined to provide more details on the duration or financial terms. With 6.8 million subscribers, Charter is the nation's No. 4 cable operator and reportedly wants to expand its network through the purchase of subscriber assets owned by financially troubled Adelphia Communications Corp., which owns a valuable system in Los Angeles.
