Charging to Room to KTTW & Pay Off

If we set up our KTTW to be able to us it to charge to the room, can we pay off the charges with Disney Dollars or Disney Gift Card? We're saving up Disney Dollars for our trip and I'd rather charge to room and pay on it every couple of days instead of hauling Disney Dollars around with us.

Absolutely. You can use any form of payment to settle-up the room charges. You can either set up something like a "debit account" using the cash, where you'd pre-pay your room charges and then deplete that balance as you use your room charge.
Or, you can give them your credit card or debit card to set up the account (they do not put any kind of a hold on your accounts), and then pay off the room charges with cash, Disney Dollars or the gift card.

But the one thing to keep in mind, you'll want to settle-up the charges the night *before* your checkout date. If not, sometime overnight they'll charge all of the accumulated room charges to the card that you gave them.

When I went down with my friends in September, we used my credit card to open the account (I trusted my friends enough that they wouldn't splurge). Midway through the trip, we got a printout of the room charges, and using the room key numbers to compare the line items with each room key, we were able to determine who owed what. We then went to the front desk and paid it off. (The Front Desk CM was VERY relieved to see that we'd done all the math before we walked up to pay) And we used all different methods of payment. One used cash, one used a credit card, and I used my Disney Gift Card, which I'd been using to save up for the trip.

Make sure you pay off the night before you leave, or before you reach the credit limit they assign you. If you reach the limit, they'll charge your credit card and start a new limit. Although you're supposed to get maxed out and thereby warned that you've reached the limit, I had it happen once that I actually just topped it out, they assumed I'd maxed out and charged my card that night... I would have told them to anyway, but it wasn't supposed to happen that way.

You don't need to set up the room charge with a credit or debit card at all. You can set it up with the Disney Dollars/gift cards. For example, if you give them $700 in Disney Dollars when you check-in, they will set up a room charge for you with a $700 limit. This, in my opinion, will be MUCH easier than setting it up with a credit card and then having to wait in line at the front desk every now and then to pay down the balance using the Disney Dollars. Avoid the middle-man, so to speak ... set up the room charge with the Disney Dollars from the get-go.

NO PLASTIC REQUIRED.

I just received my credit card bill from my most recent stay at WDW. About 4 days before I checked out the YC charged my incidentals balance to my credit card (it was a little over $100). Then on the last day they charged the remaining balance that we had accrued. I called resort billing to check the first charge and it was incidentals. The CM didn't know why they had charged the card then. They e-mailed me the itemized bill and all charges were good.

I guess the moral is, if you really want to use your Disney Dollars, do what the above post-er mentioned and set them up as an account with the front desk. This way you won't have to worry about them charging your card randomly.:)

Some front desk cast members or entire front desks will give you push back and not want to do it for such a large sum of money depending on the length of stay.

This could be considered money laundering. Also, the front desk doesn't want you to pay $500 cash/disney dollars and then have you only charge $75 to your room. The front desk will have to refund in cash your credit.

If you use a credit card, they will actually will have to credit back on the same card (not a different one) that you originally made the prepayment on.

Thanks for all the replies. I don't think we'll have so many Disney Dollars that we'll get everything paid for that we want with them! I just figure it might help a little.
