Charged For Hoop Dee Doo

I currently have reservations for the Hoop Dee Doo show in December and was already charged on my credit card for the full amount. I've been twice to this show and never have I been charged until I purchase the tickets when I get to the resort. Is this new policy?

Yes it is. From Deb's site:

"As of August 29, 2004, full payment will be required in full for the Hoop-Dee-Doo, Spirit of Aloha Show and Mickey's Backyard BBQ at the time of booking. As long as you cancel up to 48 hours in advance, you will receive a full refund."

I'm going to assume they had too many no shows for these popular meals and decided that this would prevent people from not coming. Now people will cancel with enough time for them to fill the tables. I don't see any problem with this except for the fact that you have to pay for the meal ahead of time.

The new dining system makes taking payment and issuing refunds much easier. The new system was scheduled to debut much closer to the time that this new policy started.

I've got a thread buried somewhere about it too.

Meega, nala kwishta!
This doesn't surprise me at all. On my trip for October, Disney has charged me the full cost to afe of the things we are doing like tours and special Food and Wine events.

I'd have to agree with DisneyInsider in that this will prevent people from abusing or wasting a reservation that someone else really wants, but people who got the reservation never show.

I don't mind the policy at all and have no problem paying for the show ahead of time, but we usually pay for the Hoop Dee Doo with our wishes when we check into the resort at the beginning of our stay. How will this work now? Will we not be able to use our wishes for the show? I'm guessing they will charge our credit card then refund us when we check in & take a wish off??

I believe you mention it when you make your priority seating and they mark it then. You probably leave a deposit with your credit card and then it is refunded when you go to the show and you use the wishes.

I haven't dealt with wishes using the new system, but I believe that is what will happen. I haven't seen very many people on any packages other than basic dreammakers without wishes in the past few months.

Thanks for the info!!!!

It's good to know that. I had no idea about this. I usually pay for the Hoop Dee Doo with my Disney Rewards Card but I guess I could use it for something else.

When you book you will simply let the wdw dine agent that you are on the silver, gold, or platinum plan. They pull down a tab on the front screen and it will cause the system to only take the credit card for a gtd and will not charge it. When you pick up the tickets the guest service host will charge your plan then.
