Is disney desperatley looking for people to fill the character position role right now? When is the best time in the year to step in and get your foot in the door for characters, without having to wait in the 'pool'? Thanks! It's almost ready for my dream to come true! yay!

Well you'll have to be in fur before you can do face. They're always looking for people in the shorter and higher heights, and the best time would be in the beginning of the summer because they're getting ready for Halloween and Christmas.

Not necessarily. if one goes to the face character auditions and is perfect for the role then they don't. But this is about 1% of those who audition.

I'm an entertainment cast member. You CAN NOT do face without doing fur...you can't even get trained without doing fur. After a face audition..which I've gone to and been approved...if you are not in entertainment and you meet transfer guidelines you will be able to transfer and go through character training, then and only then will you be able to be scheduled for face training...a completely different training than the regular. These are the current rules, and even when you become a face charcter you are still scheduled for fur shifts...that's just the way it is.

I hate to correct you, but just last week a friend who is a CP went in for a character audition and was accepted as a face roll as well as a fur roll, however the fur roll is not going to be his main gig. You can get cast as a face roll right away, however they cast a fur roll with it so you can get that training.

You get put in the pool for your skill level, not for "when Disney desperately needs Characters".

You didn't correct me on anything...you just re-phrased what I said. I said you can't do face without doing fur...your friend will go through fur training followed by face training. And I have a few friends that got approved to do face five weeks ago after transferring into entertainment and are still awaiting their face training. I, along with numerous others, just try and clear up the misconception that you can get into entertainment and immediately do face and that's all you'll do, the only way you can do that is if you're equity and doing a special role.

Well I think Blizz was right. The misconception about the 4 months implies that a person has to work as a face character for 4 months before being considered, when it varies on how long it takes the person's training and HR stuff to go through. So, yeah.

:D

Gotta love entertainment CM's on the non-tech side...

If you're a height that's needed badly they'll skip the pool, anyone in mouse height with passable dance and animation skills at the audition is likely to be offered a role right away. But if you're some awkward height that's only good for a few characters you might end up waiting in the pool.

One of the managers at my theater was supposed to have done (I believe) Quick Service..once she arrived, however, management noticed her unique height (4'11ish), put her through an audition, and cast her to be friends with Mickey. Just to add/confirm to the above post, lol

ok thanks...but here's another thing..all i'm trying to ask is this...

If I audition at the beggining of the summer, do I have a better chance of getting a position as if someone were to apply in mid June? Like if I am a good dancer, and animate very well..will they give me a position or will they put me in the pool, even if they are looking for people? Thanks!

Btw--you must do fur character training before you go into face training....it's the way it is folks

I don't think they'll put you in the pool if they actually need to fill positions in your height range. I think the pool is more for when they don't need you right away.

Disney says when they hire you that you have to work fur before becoming a face character but there are always some exceptions to the rule.

What do you mean "Whatever!" it's true. Plus, he's already auditioned and he's in a tough height range no matter what.

Well...of course you'll get trained in fur before you get trained in face, but most of the time face characters will either do 1/2 fur, 1/2 face or all face.

I'm very confused on what you meant when you said "No, you don't." That may be why my whatever doesn't make sense..i feel there is a little bad communication going on, I was just saying you had to do fur before face...which you agree with..but I thought you were saying "No, you don't" have to do fur first.
