Character Spotting-who and where??

I know the OP mentioned no Toontown...but...

When we were there a few weeks ago (sob..it's getting farther and farther away) we were down by the Toontown train station. As you face the station , off to the left is the smoking section, basically tucked away in the back corner behind the exit of the Judge's Tent (where you meet Mickey). We were just sitting there and out came Geppeto ( a really great character), Suzy, Perla, Rafiki (which for some reason struck me as odd) and here's the rare one (at least in my opinion) Big Al, an extremely large gray bear in a red vest. I admit we had no idea who he was...someone in the extremely light crowd (there were maybe 12 people) suggested Brer Bear, and we all rolled with that until he signed the kids books. I have since come to think he is from the Country Bear Jamboree (could be wrong on this)...he was a totally fun character, in my experience characters that are not that easily recognizable tend to be extra sweet and engaging. We basically had all these characters cornered...why they chose this spot is unknown to me but it was definetely a pleasant surprise.

Side note...while I think Suzy and Perla are recognized by everyone as the mice from Cinderella, a lot of people don't know their names and if you do know them they will practically smother you with hugs...Perla is in purple and Suzy in blue, just for the record!

Yes, I am a character dork but I swear I do it for the children...:D

Big al is from Country bears Jamorie, he's the one that sings... there was blood on the saddle.... blood on the ground. grim but hillarious the way he sings it. he also has an outpost store just outside of the attraction.

at times you can meet Big al, shaker, liverlips and wendlle.

Psst...it's Country Bear Jamboree and Wendell ;)

You can also dance with them at Hodown in Frontierland in the afternoon after DDCT.

:D

I was there a few years ago and 6 out of 7 Dwarfs were in that area, (Doc was back at work in the diamond mines). I was freaking out!!! I got all their pictures and autographs. And there was nobody there so they were all really playful with us.

I hope Toulouse and Berlioz might show up in Walt Disney World in the future. Since Marie can be found at the Magic Kingdom daily there (Previously in Epcot's France Pavilion).

Ok I am admit it I'm 36 years old and my favorite part of my Disney vacation is seeing the characters and getting their autographs. (Yes I know they are just underpaid college kids in very hot costumes but still....)
I'm going the first week of November and already have my autograph book and pen ready. I always try and find one new character every trip.

So what are some of the more "unique/rare" character that are out there walking the parks?

And other than character dining and Mickey's Toontown Fair where is the most unique place you've "bumped into" a character?
I remember seeing Clarabelle and Horace near the entrance at the Magic Kingdom during my first trip to Walt Disney World in 2004.

Snow white was outside the Emporium at MK last Friday..not sure if that's a normal appearance or not.

Marie from Aristrocats was a MG in the area in front of the train station last Friday as well..im almost sure this is not a normal MG..

Marie actually is a normal meet and greet character, since I talked with a Cast Member during my Senior Trip. They mentioned she comes out around 10:30am during days when it's not rainy.

I want to meet Marie. Does Marie sign autographs?
Yes Marie does sign autographs, in fact I meet her at the Magic Kingdom near the flagpole on the left last month during my Senior Trip. I love her style of singing autographs, she makes a big bow for the dot of the word "I" in her name which resembles her bow she wears around her neck. If you're lucky, she might kiss it. According to a Cast Member, she comes out around 10:30am daily during days when it's not raining. Minnie does meet and greets there until 10:25 when "Dream Along With Mickey" begins and she heads to her Meet and Greet area in New Fantasyland in the Circus area. But Marie is one of those characters you just have to meet. In fact I meet her twice, and Marie gives the best hugs since she feels so fluffy and soft.
