Character Question

Does WDW "rent" out the characters? I mean, our local high school band played some Disney songs last year, and I was just wondering how special that would be for Mickey to come out on the stage, and do a meet n greet afterwards... just wondering if Mickey is ever allowed to leave, or any of those guys?

I think I read that Disney characters appear at breakfast at a non-Disney hotel (one in Downtown Disney area, I think), and the hotel pays a per hour rate.

Also, I think that if you want Mickey at your wedding, you can, again, for a fee.

That said, my guess is that your high school band could buy lots of music or a couple of sousaphones for what it might cost.

they do it... and it's expensive. You pay for everything that's involved with getting the character. Rule of thumb, $500 per character, per hour... plus any transportation

VIP characters cost even more. And for all characters it is a 4 hour minimum you must pay for, even if you only need them for 1 30 minute set.
