Character Pool and Open-Call Auditions?

Alrighty as some of you might know I just auditioned just not too long for ago for characters, and got put into the character pool. I've been told by many people that they have way too many people doing characters right now. But I keep seeing all these articles in the newspaper, and on DisneyAuditions.com for Open-call auditions. My question is this, if they are so full right now, then why are they having open-call auditions? I was measure at '70 inches...does that mean anything? I hope I get called soon..lol

Listen, they hired to many cps again. So they first pull hours from the seasonal, then the part time, and then they give full timers the only required 32 hours. The auditions are really looking for face and people who can dance really well.....

No, that means part-time and seasonal people with more seniority will get (pardon my language) screwed out of hours. Because of the CP's my 2 1/2 years of seniority doesn't mean much, and the CP's are getting all the hours because they're guaranteed a certain number of hours per week.

nah, CP's get screwed out of hours too.... there were quite a few weeks when I didn't get my "required" amount of hours... they said tough luck, pick up some shifts, and as Kat I'm sure understands, is a joke at our height....


and the contract with housing is Price Management... what do they have to do with the required hours though? the fact that they charge us so freakin much that we have to work that many hours to actually pay rent?

The only reason that you would end up owing money is if you called in too much. If they don't give you your required hours, you make them, I've done it before! You just keep going higher and higher in the ranks because they are required to give you the hours. I always had 40+ hours and I'm in the "bad height range", so I don't know what they deal is! Now when I go seasonally, that's clearly a different story, but I can always pick up shifts. And the other thing, the apartments don't cost that much relative to the area you are in, go to apartments.com or a site like that and see how much you would pay for a nice apartment in a gated community with laundry facilities, parking, maintinence, pest control, all utilities, and high speed internet access in a fully furnished aprtment. Yeah stop complaining!

If I only had one or two roommates as a CP I'd probably agree. But those kids who are crammed 4-6 into an apartment and charged the same... I'd feel pretty burned.

Usually its the payroll clerk failing to pay CMs for hours picked up. They also screwed up training pay for a lot of people on this round of CPs as well, but the CPs I talked to were NOT entertainment CPs, so the situation may be different there.

It may be true, I was just speaking from experience with schedulers that I've worked with. I did my first program in hospitality at the Grand Floridian, and they would sometimes mess with my hours and pay, but if that happens you have to go directly to the local labor center and point out their mistake, and they are required to fix it.

ya, individually we weren't paying a lot.... BUT there were 8 of us in my apartment... and while the apartments are nice, they're definitely not worth that....don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to be a complainer... it's the only thing in the CP that I had a litle bt of an issue with though- especially when there are rumors flying that we were supposed to have free housing because of Coke in the first place... I'm sure that rumor has been going for years though :lol:

I'm very limited as the the ones I can do.... so when it came to trying to pick up shifts, there were rarely open ones that I could take

Yeah...luckily I am only disapproved in the obnoxious space ranger! I was almost always at the veranda or frontierland.
