Splash is a movie where handsome young buck Tom Hanks falls in love with mermaid Daryl Hannah; hijinx ensue. It was, if I'm not mistaken, the first film released under Disney's Touchstone Pictures imprint. It's also why Splash Mountain is named that instead of "Zip-A-Dee River Run".

No offense was intended; I've just never seen you mention it until just now. And I'm always skeptical of people who seem to suddenly cite a movie as their favorite when a remake is announced.

Deadline first told you about the remake back in 2016 with the 22 Jump Street and Inherent Vice actress attached."
