Changing reservation - Does this sound right?

I called CRO last week and asked about splitting our current reservation at the YC up between the YC and GF. While she was very pleasant, she informed me that in order to do so, we'd have to cancel a portion of our YC trip and rebook as the reservation was paid in full with a credit (debit) card. I don't want to deal with credits and rebooking, etc. Just curious if maybe she may have been incorrect.

Whether it was paid up or not, a change that involves less than what you've already paid would mean a refund and rebook the new one. And any change requires cancellation and rebooking even if you've only put down the initial deposit and the second booking would require separate payment. They can't seem to figure out how to transfer money from one "account" to another...

I've made changes in the past with discounts and they just refunded my money. Didn't have to rebook anything.

Weird.

Sorry, changes involving an additional resort... Requires a new deposit for the different resort, not rebooking the original. Not trying to confuse you.

Initially was going to do YC first, but after looking at our itinerary, we'd do GF first.

That's what is causing the problem; let me give you an example - let's just say you booked the YC from September 1-10, 2010. Did deposit and paid in full. Now you want to do a split stay and do the GF too.

Scenario A:

If you kept YC for Sept 1-5, all they would do is drop the days at the end and give you a refund on what was dropped; and then they would create a separate reservation for the GF, however

Scenario B:

Since you want to do the GF first, they can't just drop the days from the beginning of your YC stay, unfortunately its not that easy. They need to cancel and rebook the YC for its new dates, and also make the new separate reservation for the GF...

I hope that helps.

If you are working with a discount code make sure that they will be able to rebook with the discount. I did this once and the person told me she was going to have to cancel the room and try to grab the room back because the discounts are limited to a certain number of rooms. In essence she could have canceled my reservation and had someone else grab that discount before she rebooked it, leaving me without a discount. Hope that made sense:lookaroun
