Changing hotels mid trip....

We're coming down in December for a 7-night land & sea package starting December 26. We were finally able to find semi-reasonable airfare (I had a post earlier this week about possibly driving) and are now coming down on Christmas Day and leaving on January 3. We're at the Poly starting on the 26th, but decided not to spend the $400+ per night for our extra nights before and after the package and will most likely stay at an All-Star. My question is, when we change from the All-Star to Poly, do we take Disney transportation or do we call a cab? In all my trips, I've never switched hotels!

Also, when we get off the cruise on the 2nd, we'll be heading back to WDW. Has anyone ever done this after a cruise? What's the best way to get back. Do we take the cruise bus to the airport and then have to take a shuttle or cab from the airport to our hotel? Any help would be much appreciated...this is our first "not normal" trip!

Thanks!

At the value resorts you need to notify bell services that you are transferring to another WDW resort and then you leave your luggage you want transferred in your room and they will transfer it for you. It will be at the Poly for you between the hours of 1pm and 3pm (at least this is how it worked last year for us). Then go off to a park or whatever and you can check-in at any time, but your luggage won't be there until the specified time period.

If you are going from a moderate, Deluxe or home away from home resort then you wait in the room for someone to come and tag up your luggage from bell services and you go on your way. Same delivery time as well (1pm-3pm).

Recently moved from Poly to Boardwalk, and the luggage didn't arrive until almost 7:00. The Boardwalk kept calling and calling and Poly just wouldn't deliver. I had to move a dinner reservation at france from 5:30 to 7:30 because I only had wet and sweatty clothing. We just took the mono to Epcot and walked through the park to get to Boardwalk.

bump, similar question

What question do you have that wasn't answered previously in the thread?

Bell Services from Resort #1 will pick up your luggage and transfer it to your new resort. You can then head off to a park for the day like you normally would. Then in the afternoon, rather than head back to Resort #1, take WDW transportation to Resort #2. Check in, and with any luck your luggage will already be there, and you just need to call Bell Services from your room and they'll bring it up. (And unlike the Magical Express luggage delivery, you need to be in your room for them to deliver it)

And speaking of DME, if you're using it you need to make sure to associate your Arrival flights with your first reservation and your Departing flights with your second reservation.

We did this back in '06 from the Poly to POR. We brought our luggage to the front desk at the Poly, went to the parks and upon checking in at POR around mid afternoon our bags were in our room already.

One thing to mention though is if you are on the DDP, you may not get meal points for the day that you change resorts. We learned that the hard way. Upon checking into POR we saw our DDP credits were less than we had anticipated. When I called CRO they explained that because we checked out of our hotel, even though we checked into another, we did not recieve dining points for that day. Not sure if this is still the rule, but I would check upon making reservations.

Credits on the DDP are based on hotel *nights*, not days. If you stay at Resort #1 for 5 nights and Resort #2 for 3 nights, you'll get a total of 8 of each type of credit (assuming we're talking about the "regular" DDP here) across the two keys.

Your room key for Resort #1 would have 5 credits. Those credits expire at midnight of the day you check OUT of that resort, so make sure you use them up. You'll then get the three new credits on your room key for Resort #2. If you've used up all of your Resort #1 credits before you get to your check-out day, then you'll be credit-less until you check into Resort #2.

If for some reason there were less credits than there should have been, even when considering it on a per-night basis, then you should have spoken to someone at the Front Desk.

I have moved from Pop to the Poly (last year) but we had a car, so it went smooth as silk......you can ask them to pick you up in a Disney van, they did this for a friend of mine so she checked into the new hotel WITH her bags.
