Changes to Wishes dessert party??

Has anyone here been to the wishes dessert party in the last month who can verify information for me?

There is an entire thread on another board with people saying that they have been to the dessert party in the last month and there are no longer pre-assigned tables: it is now first come-first served. Also that you are no longer allowed to stand at the rail for the show, but must sit at your table.

Therefore everyone is starting to get there over an hour ahead of the party to line up for the front tables.
I found this hard to comprehend, so I called disney dining directly, who transferred me to guest relations who stated "there are no changes to the party". Yeah, not sure I am convinced. CMs don't always have all the facts.

has anyone on this site been to the party recently and can verify exactly what the set up is?
I do not want to wait over an hour in a line to get to a party that starts an hour before the fireworks = showing up 2 hours before wishes!!

We were there at the beginning of January and the tables were assigned. Of course once the fireworks start, you are free to walk up and stand by the railing if you want.
