change in resort reservation

I'm brand new to this forum and I hope I'm asking this in the right place. Has anyone ever made a resort reservation and then called back to adjust for a cheaper price at a later time? I ask because as a Florida resident I know that the price will go down on a Summer trip as the time approaches, but I would like to make a reservation well in advance to secure a room. I have been told by the cast members on the phone that they will, but I'm wondering if they'll do it "hassle free". Thanks in advance for any insight y'all have to offer.
