Change from MGM to DHS

I was just thinking, has there been alot of schange from Disney MGM Studios' to Disney's Hollywood Studio's? And what has changed?

There have been no noticeable changes. The only reference to it that I've heard was on the newest Samantha Brown Travel Channel show.

Thats right, I havent seen any new merchandise or any signage change yet, I think they will start that between January 1st and the official date of change.

I'm surprised they haven't started working on any of the little mentions of MGM yet, or the main entrance and arch by the animation courtyard.

I was just wandering MGM yesterday looking at all of the smallest signs that will have to be changed! I'm sure it will end up happening over night. Disney is amazing with those things!

The change isn't supposed to happen until early next year, and most of the big noticeable changes will probably happen overnight, but I would say look out for the week before for small changes.

Yeah the name seems to be the only major change. I don't think there are even any special events from the changing of the name. Looks like we'll just have to wait and see...

Changes in travel books have already been made. I just bought my sister a 2008 Disney World Trip Planner and it says Disney Hollywood Studios. So it seems to be changing everywhere else except for the actual park ;]

I'm not surprised they're waiting to make any in-park changes. It would probably cause to much confusion during the holiday season. Expect the changes to come fast and furious after New Year's.

I was just there yesterday and was wondering the same thing... MGM is still on everything, and figured it would be changed in some places at least.
All the signs and schpiel's are all MGM still. And we always get a magnet every time we go and was hoping to get a new DHS one.. but, nope, not yet.

I am guessing come Jan. 1 it will change over pretty quickly then huh? :shrug:

I want to think I read somewhere today (maybe MousePlanet) that permits have been filed to update signage on the front gate canopy and the animation courtyard arch.

All Studios CMs had the opportunity to participate in a group photo in front of the the animation courtyard arch last week, so the park hasn't completely ignored the fact that things are going to change. If it weren't for that, I'd honestly start thinking that it may have slipped their minds that the change is just a few weeks away. I had hoped for a bit of fanfare and excitement, but it seems like they just want it to be seamless and quiet.

That was a nice thing to do, especially if there are any "long-timers" who've been at the Studios since opening.

Well, one noticable change has been altering the Osborne Lights narration to say "Here at the Studios for the Holidays". Very clever to how there's no direct referance to which studios, and the change over will happen while the Osborne lights are up. Disneyworld.com has made the change, and all CMs are being told NOT to use the new name until next year. Much of the change will happen literally overnight. I wonder if a re-dedication ceremony is in the works?

From what I've heard, the merch will appear in January.
