Hi, my family is planning a trip to Florida this christmas, just like all other Christmas' but we were looking for things to do as well as Disney. We've been to disney a ton, and always like to add something new. I read about a zoo in Orlando, in Sanford actually called the Central Florida Zoo. Has anyone been there? The reason I ask is I like animal photography and wanted to know if their were cages there, or more natural settings, or glass and stuff. My digital camera has troubles getting through metal fencing and all. Any feedback would be appreciated, thanks :)

I love the Central Florida Zoo. We went there several times when I lived in Orlando and always had fun. As far as the question of cages goes, it depends on the individual animals in question. Some do have the fencing, while others have a more open enclosure(the gators and crocs, for example). Now, it has been about a year and a half since I moved from Orlando and so they may have made some improvements while I've been away. But if you like big cats, then it's definitely the place to go. Big cats that they have include: Amur Leopard, Black-footed Cat, Caracal, Cheetah, Clouded Leopard, Puma and Serval.

Here's the website if you need more info. I'd say give it a go.

I think we went there years ago (Unless there is / or was some other zoo near sanford) it was quite good I certainly enjoyed the day. on a sad note though there was a lion (who did look quite old) who was in cage all he (Or She) was doing was walking up and down it really was a sad sad sight as I feel that the Lion had clearly lost it's mind.

Thanks, if anyone else has any more info I'd love to hear about it. I'm sorry for that lion. :( We mightgive this place a try, last year we went to Gator Golf on International Drive, and they had an albino Alligator ;)
