Has anyone ever thought about moving to Celebration? Or know anyone who lives there? I think it would be cool to live there. It's a really pretty area.

Well...I knew a few people who used to live there...they hated it. It really isnt the "Disney utopia' everyone would like to think it is..it is actually a high priced town with strict rules....and a death count (hehe..do some research on THAT)

Its not really a "Secret"...there just was a little problem with them finding bodies in a nearbye lagoon...

Well...long story short...the offramp into celebration is a deadly curve that seems to have claimed a few. I am SURE you can dig up some info on this..I have the newspaper article on my wall at home...no..im not morbid..i saw it as cruel irony.

Hhhhmmm. I really haven't heard any stories about this place. I can't believe your friends hated it there! And the thing with the lagoon....just sad!

Are you sure it's not the monster from the X-Files that eats everyone who breaks a neighborhood rule? :D

If I lived in Celebration, I'd probably be the first kicked out for putting up a purple basketball goal or something.

i read about that too. i think if not mistaken it was some guy who was drunk instead of turning left or right he went straight into the lake-i heard he was in a ford explorer or bronco and the nasty thing is he was there for a like a couple of months.

my wife and i were looking at homes there while apparently he was the"creature of the black lagoon".

ok heres my input on celebration.I LOVE IT!!!!!

this is only my opinion and my experiences at celebration-it is kinda a love/hate deal.some love it some really hate it.

my freind has a "village" size home there and he really loves it too.i have been there about 30 times since it let its first residents in. in my opinion along with my freinds its a great place if ur a family with kids.someone who is younger and single might not like it because celebration pushes strong community interaction
for families.
heres some facts
a-it is very expensive to live there.unless ur a professional or just gotten a big inheritance check look elsewhere.even the apartments are costly.now this can be looked at either way.
yes homes are starting around 180k for very small home up to a million for an "estate"size home which are huge but i think(in my opinion) its worth it.the school is top notch, community is extremely clean and very beautiful, downtown area is robust with plenty of great stores, restaurants, post office, bank, and an amc movie theater which for most residents are walking distance, and not to mention the homes are breathtaking!
b-celebration has a lot of strict rules!-very strict no grey matter-cut and dry. this can be looked at both ways too.
u can think this place stinks because they tell me how to live and what i can and cant have in my drive way.
i like strict rules and im not a "BIG BROTHER" type but after buying a new home 2 years ago and investing alot of money in south west fla -rules can be ur best freind!
my new neighbor in my ruleless city is allowed to have his 72 rust bucket ford ford pinto on cement blocks with the engine in the middle of his brown, dead lawn.his house is red with blue trim(need i say more?????) i dont agree with being told how to live my personal life but some rules are in place to prevent property values from lowering like making sure u cut ur grass and keep yards clean, not allowing funky glow in the dark colors for ur home, and if u are taking apart ur car u shouldnt be aloowed to leave ur engine in the middle of ur grass for 3 months like"sanford and son"

positive or negative it is expensive to live there with lots of rules.

but just like any other place to live in america u can choose not to buy there.-if i made more money id be there in a heartbeat

Yes, there were a few cars in there. The problem is that it goes from 4 lanes to an intersection where you have to turn right. So the road just sort of comes to an abrupt end and at night, if you were tired or distracted in the least, it wouldn’t be all that hard to miss the warning signs. They have since built a wall there and put all kinds of landscaping around it with a sign saying “Welcome to Celebration” or some such thing to make it really obvious that the road ends there. Thankfully, they haven’t had a problem since they took these measures :)

Well, in my opinion, the Hunters Creek area is a better choice. They have very progressive schools; providing many oportunities for parents to participate with their grade school age children. The communities are very nicely kept (HC association), and family friendly. While Celebration has both of these, HC has one thing that is curiously missing from Celebration.... A real shopping center. HC has several grocery stores, electronic stores, and recently a Target opened on the east end of the community.

I have met several CMs that live at HC.

Another place to look is the MetroWest area. I do not know anything specific about the community, but had to travel through there a couple of times to get to the Ocoee (thanks to a "helpful" state trooper). MW is closer to Universal, than to WDW, but the area has really grown in the last couple of years.

Personally, I bet that any child that grows up in Celebration is going to become seriously warped, especially when they have to move out into the "real world". I personally couldn't stand living in a forced "Leave it to Beaver" type world, but thats just me.

Believe it or not, Celebration isn’t really any worse that many of the newer developments around here that have home owners associations. As a matter of fact, about 8 months or so ago, there was a big stink not too far from here because a family had built a tree house in their back yard for their son and the association said it had to go… What made this situation unique was that the kid was terminally ill and it was something he and his father had built. The family just wanted to keep it till he passed on but the association refused to make an exception. Finally, after they got enough bad press (and after a local radio personality aired the home phone numbers of the people on the board of the association) they decided to make an exception for this one case. The thing to remember is that they aren’t living in a bubble. The families that live in Celebration have to leave it on what is pretty much a daily basis.
