Good Morning Disneyaerians. You know I've just read the replies to my thread about what holiday meal you like to celebrate at WDW,and I got thinking. I would love to see a Walt day at Disney. And I would make it December 15th,the day he passed.A huge celebration at MK with a special parade. Now I know that Christmas is in full swing but just this one off event. It would start in MK with a morning parade, then some sort of film show at HS ( yes I know about the existing one ) and to end the day.A special illuminations show at Epcot with a choir singing lots of Disney classic songs. What would you do to celebrate Walt day at WDW on December 15th.?:)

Great idea but I think Dec 5th his birthday would be a cheerier day. IMO It's also earlier in the Christmas season but that's just me.

Yeah his birthday would be a much better date. It would also probably be better being held at Disneyland (And Magic Kingdom ofcourse) as the main location as people in California can celebrate Walt by visiting the following locations:

Disneyland
Walt Disney Studios
Walt Disney Family Museum
Forest Lawn Memorial Park (His 'grave')
Walt's 2 Stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
Walt's Star on the Anaheim Walk of Stars

And make a vacation solely around visiting these locations in California.

But I strongly agree that Walt needs more recognition as people don't seem to know who he is anymore.

My friend saw a picture of him on my phone and asked me if it was Hitler.

True story..TV quiz show asked this blonde ( honest ) Irish girl what Hitlers first name was.She paused for a moment, then gave her answer." Heil " Honest. I was in stitches.
Reminds me of my stepsis golddigger is putting it politely, I was watching the news one night when she walked in and saw a picture of Bill Gates and asked who's that geek and went on to say something about if he was the last man on Earth and the end of humanity. But I love her anyway!

They already celebrate Walt Disney Day at the parks. Nothing formal with a parade or special show, but they have released some commemorative items every year for it as long as I can remember. I know there is generally a limited edition pin that is released and commemorates the day. I have 6-7 of them in my collection.

Really? :O Do you know roughly what time of year this happens? Never heard of it before.
