So, I never really paid attention to the other Disney Parks because I have only ever known the "World". Never having been to any other park. But we started with Sleeping Beauty's Castle and then Cinderella's. Why is it that at every other park they build they keep using Cindy's Castle and just slightly tweek it. Like Tokyo is darker bricks at the base, Shanghai's looks a little different in the middle, etc. Why don't they use Beast's Castle, or Ariel's Castle.. I just think it would be interesting to see them challenge themselves to imagine and design, rather than always copying.

My two favorite quotes:
You can design and create, and build the most wonderful place in the world. But it takes people to make the dream a reality.
Walt Disney

We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.

Shanghai is not going to be Cindy's, from all I have seen it is going to be called Fairlytale Castle. Some information was released today that this castle is going to be much more than just there for show. It is going to have several attactions inside or starting in the castle. There is also talk of a large place to dine. It is going to be the tallest and largest Disney Castle at any park.

You forget that Honk Kong has a replica of Disneyland's Sleeping Beauty Castle, and Paris' castle is entirely unique.

The Magic Kingdom castle design only has two copies (and now apparently a 3rd in Shanghai, which I haven't really read much about)

That would really surprise and disappoint me. They purposely made the castle in Tokyo slightly shorter so that WDW's castle would remain the tallest Disney castle anywhere. It's the last Castle Walt was involved with and it's in America, where Disney started. Disney is an american company so america should have the tallest castle. USA! USA! :ROFLOL:

But seriously...

Because it's Cinderella's castle at the beginning of every Disney movie. That's the icon.

The blue castle logo that was used for 20+ years along with the one for Pixar features is actually Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland. The new one in use since 2006 is a mix of the two park castles with new features.

Nope. As someone else noted, that's actually Sleeping Beauty's Castle:

3 of the 5 castles worldwide are Sleeping Beauty's, with Disneyland's being an original and Hong Kong's being an exact copy. DLP's is very different design-wise, but that's because it was inspired more by the fantasy style of the castle from the actual movie, as opposed to the architecturally realistic Disneyland castle, which was inspired by Neuschwanstein.

Cinderella's Castle originated in Orlando, but was cloned to Tokyo, as nearly everything in the park was designed by a "shopping list" the Tokyo executives came up with after visiting both Disneyland and WDW, where they essentially chose the best version of each attraction from either park (Disneyland's Pirates and riverboat, WDW's Haunted Mansion and castle, etc.). Shanghai's looks like WDW's from a distance, but seems to be more renaissance style from what I can see, will be called "Fairytale Castle" or a similar catch-all name, and because it will play host to an elaborate interactive attraction/meet-and-greet, will also be the largest.
