Castle Projection technique...on a dress?

Did anyone catch the Grammy performance by Carrie Underwood? I was flipping through and stopped when I saw her dress; it was the same kind of animated projection as the Magic, the Memories and You Castle show!

Meh, it's projected patterns projected in a cone-shaped segment from a single projector onto a plain white dress on someone who has to stand in exactly one spot for it to work. Nothing too amazing, could actually be done with a projector and a laptop with the exception of the brightness and resolution (which is more a factor of budget than design/technique).

The beauty of the castle show (and other non-Disney shows like it) is using multiple projectors to seamlessly project patterns onto a multi-dimensional surface.

Now, if she'd had the projections on all side of her dress as she moved around the stage, that'd be pretty darn impressive.

I've always wondered whether something like this could be done in a Sleeping Beauty dark ride. In the movie the fairies are always fighting over the color they want Aurora's dress to be and it keeps switching between pink and blue. Would be cool to see something like that done to an animatronic Aurora figure's dress.

Not difficult to do with the right projector. People are doing this on their homes for holidays. I am hoping to be able to do it for Halloween and Christmas.

Thats not the first time I have seen it done. My friends son did that for Halloween last year. He had a mummy on his porch and projected blood and different things coming out of it.

Disney already does something similar for the changing-pattern Randall in the Monsters Inc ride at DCA. Every time Boo hits him with a bat, he changes color/patterns.
