Hi!

During my next WDW vacation, I'd like to visit the casting center. Why? Well, every time I write them concerning working at WDW, they always reply with: 'Thank you... ...However we don't recruit in your country. Try again in 12 months.' Do you think it will make any difference if I show up in person? And can you just go in without an appointment? Thanks for the help!

Btw: I've worked a few months at Disneyland Paris if that can be of any use.

Why would you want to work at WDW when you live in Europe? That's kind of a long flight everyday. No, but you would have to live in Orlando area to work at WDW. By the way your working at DLP so your there at the magic. Sort of!

Where exactly do you live in Europe? There might be a way to sort that out... I had friends who lived in Switzerland and worked at the French Pavillion because they were born French, but I guess that doesn´t apply to you. Mostly what they meant by "not recruiting in your country" is that they don´t hire people from your country for the "Cultural Representative" program.

Disney will hire internationals to work in Epcot and Animal Kingdom mostly. If your country has no pavillion in Epcot, most likely, you are out of a job. The reason is the work visa they will provide you with. It´s a "cultural representative" special type of Visa (Q-1) and only allows you to work at the place you are supposed to represent your country at: Epcot. There is no way that with that visa you can work at any other place on property (or out of it). There are certain rare ocassions in which the rule is skipped, but that´s under Disney´s responsability. I´m telling you from experience. I worked there as an ambassador for Mexico, most of the time out of the pavillion as part of a program that doesn´t exist anymore due to budget cuts. In that program, they also hired people from countries without a pavillion like Croatia, Russia and Brazil, but since the program is gone -and also the Millennium Celebration is over- and with the current situation, I doubt they will hire people without a pavillion.

You have nothing to lose by dropping your resume at Casting though, so since you will be there, you can personally ask about some other programs for internationals, but I have to warn you to not expect too much.

Good luck!

P.S. There is also another kind of visa you could get (J-1) that is more flexible, but given to internationals working in GR or other programs. Hopefully, you will find a position that gives you that one.
