This was posted by Cosmic Commando in the massive Cars Land thread, but I thought it deserved its own little thread just so everyone has a chance to see it and react quickly if going to the park this weekend.

A note from Al Lutz this morning on Miceage.com sums it up...

EDITOR’S NOTE 6/23: The cone themed drink cups at the Cozy Cone Motel are now sold out, after they went through what was supposed to be an entire summer's worth of stock in one week. The Cars Land soundtrack CD is also sold out, the Luigi's tire hats will be gone by the end of this weekend, and the Lightning McQueen popcorn bucket isn't far behind. New stock of all these land-specific items won't be shipped from China until late July or August. But there is still plenty of generic One Disney merchandise available in the Curios shop. - Al Lutz

Uh-oh! I'm glad I bought a Luigi's Flying Tires hat last weekend! And I only have one cone cup from the Cozy Cone Motel (and almost bought a second one), but I'm glad I got one. I asked about a Soundtrack CD and was told it would "be coming in later this week", and now it's already sold out!!!

I even bought a Luigi's Flying Tires attenna topper, and neither of my cars have radio antennas!

You would think they would have stocked enough of this great Cars Land merchandise to get them through the full summer, instead of running out of stuff within one full week of opening. Who the heck is in charge of the merchandise selection and stocking process for these stores?!? They need a little talking to apparently.

Glad I have my cup. I knew from the night of the AP preview that they'd be HUGE sellers. And I was hoping to grab the CD sometime this week, so I was sad to see Al's post this morning. Hopefully stock gets back in quick!

Sometimes they can't forecast just HOW MANY they need. I work on Disneyparks and Universal merchandise and it's a madhouse how fast we are trying to get the factories to restock everything. There are a lot of different groups and divisions involved in the process so it's not one person's fault.

Yikes! I hope the Luigi hat's stay in stock long enough for me to get there on Thursday. Does anyone know how much they are selling for anyways? Thanks in advance!

Some more on the merch.

EDITOR’S NOTE 6/25: The Cars Land merch shortages noted here this weekend are just the tip of an iceberg of problems. From months long outages of best-selling candy items such as sourballs, to three-different limited edition quantity numbers for a key DCA relaunch item, the One Disney, Orlando-based buying approach is damaging the bottom line here in Anaheim. Even Wal•Mart understands local markets require a tailored buying approach. - Al Lutz

Get rid of this One Disney crap, please! It's killing us over here on the West coast. Did anyone else here the Peter Pan hats have been discontinued??? Apparently because they weren't selling in Orlando. That really makes me upset.

What.. Al Lutz hating on something in FL? Say it aint so?

Remember when he blamed FL for the OMDD disaster in Cali? Yet when it came to staffing for DCA's reopening.. FL is no where to be heard of from Al. Al is always looking to scapegoat FL - it's like waiting for the sun to rise...

o_O now that is very odd. I was pretty sure the buyers at Orlando were separate from the buyers at Anaheim (buyers as in the people who order merchandise from manufacturers to sell in the parks). But maybe for headwear it's the same. Different merch is handled by different people, so it's not a blanket rule that what doesn't sell in one park is out for another =)
