Making my first trip out to Disneyland (and California) this September. Has anyone stayed at the Carousel Inn and Suites before, probably within the last couple years to as they just renovated.
Also, whats the weather like mid September?
If you are a frequent WDW visitor, you will find the weather in DL in Sept much milder than Orlando at that time. You don't get that humidity "weight" in Anaheim that you do in Orlando (at least to me).
We have stayed at the Carousel, and the beds are rather comfy, the staff is friendly and it is a short walk from the parks. It's probably as far as the walk from the Disney busses at Epcot to the main entrance of epcot to give you a general idea. The building that is not attached to the rest of the hotel (I think it's only 3 stories, can't miss it when looking at the hotel, it's on the right) has all hardwood floors and is the most updated from what we have seen; but then again, you are futher from the pool (on top of the main building) and the breakfast (one floor below the pool). All of the rooms have a fridge and microwave from what I have seen.
As an avid "on property" WDW guest, I can't fathom staying on property at DL as the carousel (and many others) are much closer to the gates than the DLH or PP (both very nice, but not worth the money IMO. At WDW, when staying "on property", you get the feel that you are secluded and in a resort with special theming at each one; to us, at DL, it's more of a "wow, we have mickey soap, we're at disney" feel; not worth the extra money IN OUR OPINION.
I think you will be happy with the location and cleanliness of the Carousel.
Have a great trip!!
