Ouch, not familiar with the Orlando area. This hotel is near our hotel from last time but is this generally an "iffy" area of town?

Before our days of staying on property, we had stayed there a few times. I will do my best to recount what I remember since it was a while back.

At first the hotel was very nice. We had a travel agent in the family, so we were always upgraded to suites or villas. They had a very large pool area with slide and waterfalls as well. Breakfast was a full hot buffet and included every day.

We won a couple of nights there about 4 years ago, so we decided to extend our trip and spend the two nights there. We didn't get a deluxe suite this time obviously (just the normal studio type thing they have with the living room and bedroom). Breakfast was no longer included, and the staff was not nearly as friendly. Needless to say we were not pleased from when we first stayed there back when the hotel was brand new. However, if you get a good rate, this hotel is still very nice compared to many in the Disney area.

As far as the article posted and the location of the hotel itself. It is in a fine area about a half mile down the road from the Nickelodeon suites and WDW entrance. That was an isolated incident and I wouldn't worry about your safety there.
