We are trying to decide between Caribbean Beach or Riverside? Just want to hear some pros and cons of both resort. We have stayed at Cibbean beach before but just trying to decide to go bck or try somewhere new.
I've stayed at both. I preferred Riverside. The rooms at CBR are slightly larger (340 sq ft to 314 sq ft). Theme is based on preference. I found Riverside much easier to navigate. One thing I disliked about CBR was the front desk and guest services is in a separate location from the food court, shops and restaurant. They're both large resorts, but Riverside is set up so you don't have more than a 10 minute walk to the central area. CBR has it's own internal bus because it's so spread out. Riverside buses share with French Quarter at less busy times, so that can be a disadvantage, but on the other hand, you can use the amenities and food at French Quarter, so that's a plus. Another plus for Riverside is that you can take a boat to Downtown Disney, which is very nice. Although they're both very centrally located, I prefer Riverside's location, as the buses can get to Magic Kingdom quicker through a back road.
I too have stayed at both. You can not go wrong with Riverside! It is a lot more convenient to get around. The scenery is beautiful!!! From what I have been reading they have also updated a lot of the rooms. I also loved the peaceful boat ride to Downtown. Personally after staying at Riverside, I would never stay at any other moterate resort. Try something new, stay at Riverside!!
Well- both are very nice resorts. Each have a unique theme to them. I loved walking across the bridge at CBR and saying "hello" to the turtles and fish each day! Lots of birds too! The Disney ducks are everywhere! The pool has a neat pirate ship area for the little ones. The buses can be slow, the check in building is in another completely different area than the food/pool complex, and it is quite large!
PORS is lovely and you can take the boat the Downtown Disney! The restaurants at both sites are just "OK". The amenities are about the same except for the boat to DTD.
Have fun! Either choice is wonderful, but if you like spending time at DTD, then I'd go w/ PORS. Also, you can visit and use everything at Port Orleans French Quarter.
Variety is good. I'd try POR. Caribbean was our 1st mod, and we liked most things about it, but after trying other mods we decided we liked POFQ and Coronado better.
I love the idea of the Caribbean theme, but keep in mind -- the beds are double-sized, whereas the newly-refurbished POR is all queen-sized beds. For my over-6' husband, that small distinction makes all the difference.
I love CBR, if you're renting a car, I say go with CBR, but if not, then riverside, both have great themes, but again, if you're using disney transportation, definitely riverside, because after a long day of walking in the parks, you'll have to walk forever from the bus to your room at CBR
i have also stayed at both. I love, love, love CBR. nothing against POR, love that too. but i think i just love feeling like i'm actually on a caribbean vacation. even when i'm not. i prefer the pool and play area for the kids are CBR, and love to walk along the water up to Port Royale to get breakfast. i always have a car, but the walk is so beautiful and peaceful, i walk instead. even though check in is in a separate building, there is a concierge/guest services in Port Royale also, so you never need to go back to check in building again.
neither is a bad choice, i just prefer CBR
Stayed at both, but my heart belongs to PORS.Jut back last week for our third time, and 14 days of magic, love the boat to downtown and food court, plus lots more.
The mods aren't all that different. The theme is the most important part. Pick the one you like most and just go there.
We can get into details about which has the better water view (CBR), which has the better food court (POR), which is more peaceful (POR) or more fun (CBR), how the bus service is (sometimes it sucks, no matter where you are) and all that...but the single most important thing is theme.
I have been at the CBR 4 times and that is the one the kids pick out when they get a vote. I love the music, the variety of foods, and the items that are available to use/rent.
