Caribbean vs. AoA

Hello all,

I'm really just a lurker on this site, but I have a question.

My wife and I have a reservation in May (currently) at AoA. We are looking to switch to CB, but really want to know the pros and cons between the two. AoA is cheaper, but not substantially, so that isn't an issue. I've read several times on here if we booked at CB, to request a room in Jamaica 45 or Aruba 51. What if we can't get those? We really prefer to stay in a nicer "adult" hotel, as we have no kids (we are kids at heart though), but we also value convenience.

We stayed at FQ the same time this past May. We liked it pretty well, although we had the furthest room from the main building/bus stops at the resort (literally, they told us), also it seemed the bus service was lacking. We waited sometimes 45+ minutes at the parks for a bus and even 30 or so minutes at the resort every day. Is that normal? Am I unlucky? Ugly? Are CB & AoA the same way? I've seen a couple times that AoA buses are better...are they THAT MUCH better? Renting a car is not an option for us, so buses are fairly important.

If we are the last stop at the resort to pick up, let's say the bus filled up before they got to us...how much longer will we have to wait to get a bus?

Now, on to AoA....we have a room in the Little Mermaid area. I know they are the furthest buildings away, but truly how far are they from the main pool/restaurant/bus stops?

Any other tips are greatly appreciated, as well.

Thank you!

AoA only has one bus stop at the resort, CBR has 7 stops so depending on your location the loop around the resort can add time.

I honestly do not care care Caribbean Beach. I have opted to stay at a value resort over CBR on more than one occasion. The resort layout is odd and inefficient, the rooms seem like nice kid rooms vs adult rooms, and the transportation stinks due to the 7 bus stops. Onside dining and entertainment are also pretty ho-hum.

If you want a more adult feel, give Coronado or Port Orleans a look.

I totally agree. We used to stay at CBR back when our kids were little and before there were value resorts. We loved it back then, and decided a couple of years ago to go back, just the 2 of us adults. We absolutely hated the changes to it, the abysmal food court, the horrendous bus schedule, and the cheesy room decor.
