My wife & I are planning to go to WDW over the Columbus Day weekend & currently have ressies at CBR. Is this the best moderate resort for a romantic getaway? we are also celebrating our 18th anniversary as well as her birthday...any ideas to make it special would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks!!

Hi there,

CBR is a very nice resort and the price is fantastic, but as far as romantic, it's ok. The rooms and resort layout at all moderate resorts are basicaly the same.

Nice rooms that are set in buildings with outside enterances. The buildings are spread around a water feature (in this case a lake with limited water craft rental) and surround a main building. The main building houses counter service food and one table service restaraunt.

Even Delux Resorts are laid out like this, the poly is a series of buildings around the main building that houses food, shops and monorail station which is the key difference.

My advice, stay there but make sure you get a rental car, that will make the time more romantic in that you won't be stuck on a bus ever, and if you want to jet over to DTD for some food or drink, or want to go resort hopping, you can do so quickly, easily, and together, alone.

Have fun.

another great thing to do if you want romance is,
The illuminations Curise
you can rent a boat called the breathless and watch the fire works at epcot
it is a little expensive, but it is worth it.

We stayed at the CBR once, and while it was nicely themed, watch out for the bugs. All of the caribbean foliage attracts some bugs, lizards too. The atmospohere was more "family friendly" than romantic - at least to me. :)

If you want a resort that is really romantic, I think the BoardWalk is the best. There is dancing at night, at the Atlantic Dance Hall, and some great restaurants.

It is a little more expensive, the deluxe resorts are. But, to me, this was my favorite. We stayed there for our anniversary, and it was my favorite trip by far.

Just a suggestion.

Hope you have a great time!!!

The Animal Kingdom Lodge is incredibly romantic, but if you want to keep it moderate, I'd pick Port Orleans French Quarter over CBR. It's extremely large and it seems like a fave for families.

I've stayed at CBR once and it is very close to a real Caribbean getaway, so I think it's romantic. If you're planning to do something extra special try a nice dinner. Le Chefs De France and Le Cellier would definitely fit in that category, plus there's a whole lot to do at the boardwalk and DD.

Hello... I stayed at the CBR on my honeymoon, let me tell you by itself it is not the mos terribly romantic, however it is much nicer than the All Stars or the Pop Century. It is very nicely decorated and themed. I will agree with the recomendation to rent a car, as it seems that the CBR is the moderate resort with the least available amount of buses traveling the different routes to and from all the attractions.

enojoy your trip!

I've stayed at both CBR and Coronado. CBR was great. A lake view room is pretty romantic everytime you open your door, as long as you don't mind paying a little extra for a lake view. Make sure to specify "lake" view, not just "water" view.

The Coronado seemed a bit nicer, perhaps because it's newer, and personally my wife and I prefer the Coronado slightly over CBR. Of the three themed sections at Coronado, we like the Casitas the best. A lot of people think this is the least themed section and looks more like any regular non-Disney hotel, but we like it, especially the fountains between the buildings. The Rancheros section might not be terribly romantic in terms of it's theming, depending on your tastes. Also, I know some couples enjoy going to the spa together, and Coronado is the only moderate resort w/ one. Didn't go there ourselves.

Here's a great website from a fellow wdwmagic poster w/ a ton of Coronado photos to give you an idea of if it will be to your liking or not.
