Hello all,

I just got off the phone with a Disney World Reservation Agent, I asked her for price of a stay from July 23rd to July 30th at Caribbean Beach Resort. The total for a preferred room came out to $348 a night. This is a huge price jump, due to the Gondolas being open by then and GALAXY'S EDGE, she looked up on computer during call that internally they have Galaxy's Edge at Disney World opening for Summer 2019.

I wouldn't bank on Star Wars being open by then. The gondola should be I think.

But they've clearly adjusted their pricing already!

Not sure that GF and the Epcot resorts will necessarily see huge increases. The CBR and POP/AoA prices were always likely to soar because of the gondola.

Probably like $200 more, wish I was kidding. This price is over a $100 more per night than for this year!
I just looked it up and a preferred room for the same days this year (Tuesday 7/24/18 - Tuesday 7/31/18) is $2189.25 or $312.75/night. Your looking at a increase of $35.25/day, not over $100. Don't get me wrong that still $247 for the weeks stay but that is just over the normal year over year increase of between 5% and 10%.

As for GE I thought they have been saying summer of 2019 since the project started? TSL was summer 2018 and GE was summer 2019. I just hope they can keep to the schedule.

My appreciation for "value" resorts has increased these past few years. The downside, is the pools in moderates and deluxes tend to be better, i.e., have slides. My kids really love that aspect, but I love the idea of not spending a boatload of money :)

Whenever we price a room for the following year, before the official pricing is out in late June of the year before, we find that the prices are high. You will find adjustments made when the official rates come out.

What you are seeing is not a finalized rate.

Those adjustments doesn't always equate to a decrease in price. I was hoping to see some savings on my reservation, but sadly nothing came of it, either with the finalization of the rack rate, or promotions. It is what it is, but the price you see now is probably really close to the actual price you'll pay.

Rack rates for resorts for next year shouldn't be available til June or July. In the good old days, if you booked before the new rates were out, you would be quoted the highest rack rate for the current year, and then your balance would be adjusted later. That usually meant that the balance would decrease. But that was then... And now you'll get to pay a parking fee too.

2018 might mark the last of the under $200 moderates, unless they bring back the discounts. It's really sad. It means we're looking for other vacation spots. Swan & Dolphin might be the best value, but I don't see $220 ever (with parking and tax included).

That's a big "depends." I reserve using discounts or third-parties. My upcoming Swan stay is $219/night. 😉
Which is why staying there is the best deal on property when you consider the fact that it's a deluxe hotel with a great location. And some people might gripe about the resort/parking fees, but even with those it's ALWAYS cheaper than Yacht, Beach and Boardwalk and occasionally cheaper than the moderates when you add the fees up.

I'm nervous as to what this will mean for Pop prices as well, I know that will fall in line. They have already been climbing and climbing (we recently paid around 185 a night) and it really is the only Value we will stay at. Hopefully this will mean a little more availability at Port Orleans when Caribbean Beach opens back to capacity.
